HD Pack overriding your retexturing mods?

Not much to say here, it is really easy.

The new HD textures pack from Bethesda have ESPs associated with it, move them high in the load order (drag them to nearest possible the top of the "Plugins" list if using NMM or whatever mod manager you use)

This grants whatever changes introduced by mods prevail over the Pack's change for the specific objects addressed by the mod.

Update: Mods changing textures without ESPs may need reupload with newer date than the pack for them to have priority. Case example, texture/mesh body and face mods.

The reason to open this thread is it is a common complaint in the official thread about CK and the Pack and those threads are growing too fast so any advice is lost inside.

--------------------------------------

To be able to use the official texture pack together any specific mod texture pack do the following:

Locate Skyrim.ini under /Documents/My Games/Skyrim and Skirim_default.ini Skyrim main folder, change the existing Section "[Archive]" so it becomes like

[Archive]
sResourceArchiveList=Skyrim - Misc.bsa, Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Skyrim - Textures.bsa, HighResTexturePack01.bsa, HighResTexturePack02.bsa, Skyrim - Interface.bsa, Skyrim - Animations.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes.bsa, Skyrim - Sounds.bsa
sResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Voices.bsa, Skyrim - VoicesExtra.bsa

And disable the Two ESPs related to the Official HD pack. This will keep the enhanced textures from it yet allowing to have mods textures working.

----------------------------------------

Edit: Thanks to PoorPaddy89 for pointing me out the horrible mistake misspelling Skyrim_update.ini instead the correct Skyrim_default.ini. Corrected now.

so far my only problem is it is messing with body and face mods (body has holes and missing areas of texture, faces due to certain races look older), some armors i put in even though 1 / 2 are HD (have this weird glowy outline on them). and tried moving them high but not seeing much of a difference. most likely just wait for mods to update themselves i guess but if anyone knows a fix plz tell me

why in the world do texture packs have esp files. all you need is meshes and textures unless there are some very badly tagged items which would only need a fix file.

did they decide to do it this way just to be different?

I thank bethesda only for the base game beyond that yah they really trip me out...

well on a more technical and organized note I suppose having an esp to turn off texture is an easier way to keep track of it.

it is still very bothersome the total lack of communication they have with the community which ultimately inspires them to fix everything and often shows them how to do it.

but meh meh...

looking forward to awesome post ck mods!!

Not at all, textures should never have an esp tying them for this breaks everything else changing textures too except if having their own ESP and we are already limited by the limit of them in the "load list", let alone the mess it could cause in the "load order"

This is awesome, thank you for this!

I would say however that I couldn't find Skyrim_Update.ini anywhere, but I did have a Skyrim_default.ini which I modifdied with the same code, and it's all lookin good :)

Thanks again!

Thanks for the observation, my mistake, it is indeed Skyrim_default.ini and not Skyrim_update.ini

don't ask me why I spelled update when myself was ware it is the template for the "default" parameters :)

let's correct the first post.
