Can you run Mods intended for Normal Skyrim under Skyrim SE? nothing that requires SKSE I know and BSA's seem to be a nono also but what about normal like texture mods?

i have yet to find a texture mod that didnt transfer over to SE.

I pulled over 83 Willow's bugs and there were a few that were saved in the wrong size. Some textures don't have a proper normal map file and can cause massive amounts of shine. So while 90% work flawlessly, a few need to be tweaked :)

Some landscape retextures had problems with excessive shine, the amidianborn armor set had an issue with the blades armor textures being missing and so on.

I know not everyones a fan but i really like Renthals textures for oldrim but not all them work for SSE

There shouldn't be any harm in installing, testing and deleting (if needed).

Personally I recommend following the SEPTIM guide as a good basis for upgrading graphics for SSE, making changes as you see fit (for example I'm using dolomite weathers instead of any of their recommended weather overhauls)

This the info that I have gone by. So far it has been spot on. As posted for most textures it will be OK, but for peace of mind and saving the hassle of trying to find that one sus texture amid all those others I just convert them to DXT5. Only because the converting program I have only converts to DXT5. Xnconvert is the program found with Google and is a free to use. Will convert by simply selecting the texture folder of the mod and will then convert all the textures within all the sub folders. Whilst that is running I then , using the niff converter from Nexus, convert the meshes.
