(You could not cause damage by swinging the spear pole at someone... Spears are for stabby)

Uhm... Yes you could. You try standing still and being fine after being smacked in the head, neck, legs or ribcage with a strong sturdy spear. It's just like a stick.

I love how every comment is an invitation for trolling.

Okay, yes, if you were unarmored and got hit with a pole it would hurt. But it would hurt so much less than with the pointy end as to be inconsequential.

Just love that when the staff who made the game decide to hold a internal competition to be reative with their ideas, everyone instantly thinks that they are going to release them as paid for DLC.

Did any of you even think of the fact they might be part of a larger expansion pack style DLC? You know, something worth the money?

Seriously we can get very self entitled sometimes.

If you keep whacking a helmed opponent over the head with anything, he will eventually get sick and be unable to fight. That's for real world, obviously I doubt they would add such a mechanic to Skyrim though.

I think you need to remember, this is a game where you can kill ghosts with swords. Keeping that in mind, I don't think the spear is such a silly idea. It was used for thousands of years to fight. The samurai used it just as much as swords. There was a type of Gladiator in roman times (the velites) who used it for one on one fighting. If it was good enough for them, why not Skyrim

We pc gamers could run all of those effects extremely well. But, what about the consoles? You have to remember that consoles are still running five year old hardware. They would not be able to support all of these effects at all. Especially the seasonal changes and so on. There is a reason why the hires texture pack that they released was for us and not consoles. Simply because of the hardware limitations. Skyrim was solely built with consoles in mind. Consoles were the center piece of the development of the game, the 360 to be specific, and so we get kicked in the ass because of it.

Now, I am not going to gripe to much about this simply because we aren't going to get effects like that in the final product until consoles up their hardware. And that won't be till next year or the year after. So keep that in mind. Sure the consoles would be able to have horse combat, dragon mounts and so on, but then that would push the dragons out of the "spotlight" as todd said. Which really angers me, but that's ok because what makes one person mad doesn't mean everyone else will agree.

I really do hope that some of these features will be released via expansion dlc's and so on. Horse combat I don't think will make it to be honest, but the new spell effects, animations for spears, flowing water, and goblins do sound like more of the things that we "might" see. Hopefully that is.

This is halarious. Not the video but just the reactions of the people posting in this thread. I have been saying this since 11/11/11 & how dissapointed I am with Skyrim. This game had soooo much potential but it was rushed. The game was riddled with bugs for 3 months rendering it unplayable for many. Game breaking bugs STILL exist, MONTHS later. Every time I spoke out against Bethesda I was met with nothing but unimaginitive fanboys who insisted this is the best game ever made. Skyrim isn't even in my top 10. These are all features you could have had, but instead of realizing the game for what it is you told Bethesda "OMG this is the best thing ever, I cannot imagine how this could be any better herpadederp."

Enjoy, you got what you asked for.

I never said I was against spears. Did you quote the wrong person?

Should have been over at the real forums. We had/have plenty of critics over there. Myself included. I knew Skyrim was going to be watered down as soon as they started announcing what wasn't going to be in Skyrim.
