Slaiv
Does anyone else think that Morrowind is a little to dark? It just doesn't feel, well, happy, at any part of the entire game... You just don't get a very friendly vibe from the game.... And the over-unfriendly citizens don't help either.... Your opinions?
ShinJiOh
True, even when thier disp. is at 50 they still say they will kill you if you dont keep moving, if you hate the dark a good night-eye enchantment on a weapon is a good idea. Well, i suppose you're right there is no happy point in the game, mybe in tribunal there was a little joy....
Slaiv
I haven't really played throught Morrowind all that much... I just started a new character on my computer because I had trouble transferring the files, and I realised just how unfriendly the whole place seems... There must be a whole lot of crime in Vvaardenfell...
Smashy
i have mentioned this a few times before, morrowind is a hell hole to be blunt, and the sad thing is that Soltheim(sp?) is probably the cheeriest place in the game so far, and its inhabited by a horrible monster, were wolves, a vengeful deadra prince, and drunken nords, not to mention the disgruntled imperial gaurdsmen. As for mourhold, thats a bit more cheery than vvardenfell, but a bit less than soltheim since no one can leave or enter the city by normal means, the guards are nicer in mourhold, and the whole place seems alot cleaner, and far more wealthy, so yea, vvardenfell is hell incarnate, and its citizens are 50 times worse, why anyone would wish to live there, or why bethesada decided to base the game there is beyond me, but most of my char's life is spent in mourhold, and in soltheim, though i do stop in balmora every now and then to stock ip on supplys (pimary needs mod need to eat!!), so to conclude im glad to see people have the same veiws on the game as i do, but bethesada probably wanted the player to feel oppressed and unwelcome while traveling through the reigions, and trying to save the people of that damned hunk of land. wesaynothin
Well, I've always thought the Ascadian Isles and West Gash were nice places. Every other place just plain sucks, in my opinion. Like the Molag Amur region, I can be happy as a bird, get stuck in a blight storm, cant re-coop all day. But that does make one wonder; how can a game control ones emotions so much?
cmac
Ashlands: Dark, plain, blight storms, CLIFF RACERS. West Gash: Plain, pleasant, unremarkable. Grazelands: Nice, open, pleasant, nice plantlife + weather. Azura's Coast and Sheogorad: My favourite regions. Nice plantlife, weather, and scenery. Molag Amur: Same as Ashlands but with more hills. I think the scenery has a lot of the game's control on emotions. For example, I feel completely at home and peaceful in the rainy isles of Sheogorad and Azura's Coast. The Ashlands are just so desolate and lonely that it makes the player feel uncomfortable. The blight storms actually make you want to get away. The rain in most regions is usually light, and, unless it is a lightning storm as well, is nice. I like the rain in real life, and the rain in Morrowind is just as good. Switch
Well, doesn't seem that dark and nasty to me. I mean have you tried walking around the Grazelands on a bright sunny day? :P It's only if you constantly hang around the Molag Amur region and such that it gets a little dreary. Slaiv
Still, I think that the whole thing is pretty bad...
Ingolfson
Well, you can also up the contrast/lighting a bit in the settings to make Morrowind less 'dark' (semi-kidding). The first few (real-time) days I was playing Morrowind I was always cursing about those dang caves - too dark to see *anything* and those torches didn't help enough. I dreamed of a 'light' magic item then. Upped the settings - and now I never need light sources again! In fact, that worked a little too well, I guess.
