nosisab
Several different mods use the d3d9.dll as the vehicle to start themselves (it is a modified version of MS official dll, reason it lives on the main folder so it has preferences over that on Windows structure)... If using more than one these mods, like ENB series, FXAA injector and this fixer, you need to chain them in their respective ini files, follow carefully the documentation in such mods. Still, the fixer acts over a known and old issue that is not exclusive of the game (sometimes it affects movies too) that translate into an annoying micro stuttering but not necessarily related with common stuttering or lag you may be experimenting. I can't really tell for sure what is the stuttering type happening there. This last case is most commonly associated with hardware orverload and real solution is upgrading it. Still you may try some tweaks to make it work lighter. Input lags can sometimes be reduced (in Nvidia cards) by reducing the number of frames rendered ahead from the default 3 to 2 or in extreme cases even all the way toward 0 (meaning only the current frame is rendered). Still this may actually increase stuttering so is a try and err process till finding the better value. Avoid having too many texture enhancing mods if the card bandwidth is not high enough to load the textures into the memory quickly enough (this is commonly the case of mainstream cards featuring more VRAM than it should for it's process power). Tweaks in the Shadows parameters can help reducing the stress over the video card and enhance overall performance. Sometimes the stuttering may relate to the CPU instead only the graphic card, so, tweaks in this department may help you too. This guide is still one the better to help doing a fine tune not only for this game in particular as to your rig as a whole. Although it is from Nvidia it works wonders for AMD/ATI owners too (the guy who wrote it is known since long time and has tweaks for many other games at high level of deepness). Good luck. Edit: since you did not post your actual machine specs, I'll assume the wort scenery, in this case, if really willing to have many texture resolution enhancers you may want to reduce the screen resolution a bit, keeping the aspect ratio. Far from good solution but... Edited February 10, 2012 by nosisab
