Skyrim Civil War - Peace Talk Overhaul

Recommended Posts

What I'm thinking of is adding another response option when asked whether Elenwen should stay or go: "Elenwen has to die... Delphine! Now!".

What ensues, well, that depends on what suitable dialogue lines can be reused - but in the end, everyone will be convinced that removing Thalmor is the way to go. I mean, those who survive.

Another possible idea. Instead of replacing the original peace talk, holding a second one after the main quest is completed, say, under the pretense of determining the terms of the restarted war, but with the actual goal of ending it entirely, based on what is already discussed. From the limited knowledge I possess, adding an entirely new quest is easier than changing an existing one, so it may be more likely to happen.

The difficulty is in cleanly discontinuing the already started civil war quests. The premise of the story could be as thin as "time flows different in Sovngarde; when you returned, the war already ended by itself", and there would still be an umpteen things to take care of in the code.

So to justify this effort, the way it would be used should be interesting, right? Perhaps a closure to the Jagged Crown story? Or, in my case, a better build up to the death of Paarthurnax. You've betrayed the sacred peace of Greybeards, he attacks you or something - anything but a killing you're tasked with by the Blades in vanilla games.

This build-up is diluted by the fact that player might have already be done with the "Paarthurnax" quest before attending the negotiations. So for that I've made a mod (Skyrim Classic only for the time being, but maybe it works with SSE as is) "The Paarthurnax Option", which makes it started only by player choice, by saying to Blades something along the lines:

"Ever heard the name Paarthurnax? Seems to me, there's one more dragon to kill"

Delphine: "There's one more thing. We know about Paarhurnax..."

UPDATE:

And you can try out Betrayal at Hrothgar now! With the caveat that it is of pre-alpha quality.

maybe you should talk to the author of "Become High King Of Skyrim" There's a new polished version of the mod, he deals with a lot of civil war aftermath, including Thalmor raids, It might be a good idea to even try and work together? Just a suggestion :) But good luck, and nice work!

This is an interesting option but what would be really great is if you could shut down the city trading and just get them to declare a temporary truce without that BS.
