Xenobuzz
Hey, all! So I thought I could copy over my Fallout 3 game directory to my new PC, but it didn't work. Because of the large amount of mods and textures I was using, a BUNCH of things got lost in the transfer. Sentry Robots suddenly turned light blue, Books Debunked vanished and the bathroom graffiti textures got totally garbled. I'm still simmering with disgust, anger and frustration over the situation. Why does moving a game from one PC to another have to be such a HUGE timesuck? Do you always have to redo EVERYTHING?! Is there no simple process to preserve the old game's integrity on the new system? Anyway, if I decide to do all this *hit all over again, what's the best way to proceed? I'll list the following actions that I think are necessary, but if you think the order is incorrect, please let me know. - Install vanilla version- Copy over and install DLC's (I don't have hard copies as they all came from dowloads)- Update FO3 to latest version- Download and install FOMM- Begin searching for all the mods and textures I used previously Here's part of my problem: how the *uck do I figure out which mods & textures I was using? I don't have any of them bookmarked, the vast majority of them do not appear in FOMM and I cannot find my Download list in Vista on my old PC so that I could at least write down the file names and search for them on Fallout3nexus.com Here's my old Load Order: [X] Fallout3.esm[X] Anchorage.esm[X] ThePitt.esm[X] StreetLights.esm[X] BrokenSteel.esm[X] PointLookout.esm[X] Zeta.esm[X] Mart's Mutant Mod.esm[X] Enhanced Weather - Rain and Snow.esm[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather.esm[X] DCInteriors_ComboEdition.esm[X] WYB.esm[X] PlasmaRifleAwesomefied.esp[X] GNR Enhanced.esp[X] Laurens_Bathroom_poetry_V1.esp[X] DCInteriors_DLC_Collectables.esp[ ] Greenerworld.esp[X] CPAR - Cheezy Poofs and Rations.esp[X] poolballs.esp[X] schematics2.esp[X] WYB-Base.esp[ ] Fallout Remastered - WMI + Xepha.esp[X] WYB-DLC-Anchorage.esp[X] WYB-DLC-ThePitt.esp[X] WYB-DLC-BrokenSteel.esp[X] WYB-DLC-PointLookout.esp[X] WYB-DLC-Zeta.esp[X] WYB-MOD-DCInteriors_Combo v2.6+.esp[X] WYB-OPT-WhiteCigarette.esp[ ] WYB-TEST-Fairfax.esp[X] WYB-OPT-DynamicReplacer.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Anchorage.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC The Pitt.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Broken Steel.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Point Lookout.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Zeta.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Natural Selection.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Tougher Traders.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Zones Respawn.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Master Menu Module.esp[X] Fellout-pipboylight.esp[X] Enhanced Weather - Rain and Snow in Fallout.esp[X] Enhanced Weather - Radioactive Rain and Snow Plugin.esp[X] Enhanced Weather - Weather Sounds in Interiors.esp[X] Enhanced Weather - Sneak Bonus during Storms.esp[X] Fellout-Full.esp[X] Night Vision Sunglasses.esp[X] Fellout-Anchorage.esp[X] Fellout-BrokenSteel.esp[X] Fellout-PointLookout.esp[X] Fellout-Zeta.esp[X] Xepha's Darkened Interiors.esp[X] Xepha's Darkened Interiors - OA.esp[X] Xepha's Darkened Interiors - BS.esp[X] Xepha's Darkened Interiors - PL.esp[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Main.esp[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Anchorage.esp[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - The Pitt.esp[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Broken Steel.esp[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Point Lookout.esp[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Night Eye Edition.esp[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Anchorage (NEE).esp[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Rain (NEE).esp[ ] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Rain.esp[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Sandstorm.esp[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Dynamic Sneak Bonus.esp[X] Fallout Remastered.esp[X] Fallout Remastered - Mart's Mutants Mod.esp[ ] Fallout Remastered - FWE + MMM.esp[ ] Fallout Remastered - MMM + EVE (PI Merge).esp[ ] Fallout Remastered - MMM + Scavenger.esp[ ] Fallout Remastered - FOOK2 + MMM.esp[ ] Fallout Remastered - RIL.esp[X] Fallout Remastered - Fellout.esp[X] Fallout Remastered - Xepha's Dynamic Weather.esp[X] Fallout Remastered - Xepha's Darkened Interiors.esp[ ] Fallout Remastered - Wasteland Music Injector.esp[X] M61FGR.esp[ ] silencedsniperrifle.esp[X] silencedsniperrifle(thinnerlonger).esp[X] Moon.esp I hope that some of you have gone through this process and have some words of advice and comfort! M48A5
IF you old computer has a DVD writer and is still operational, can't you just copy the whole thing to a disk and than drag and drop onto your new computer?

I have a 64 GB thumb drive. Would that work in the same fashion? I know that I'd lose my saved games, but I already know how to move them over. Dave I have never used a thumb drive, so I really can't give you and intelligent answer. However, in Windows, there is a utility program called "Windows Easy Transfer" that was designed to transfer your installed settings from one computer to another. If you left click the Windows start button in the lower left, in the ppo up window, hover over all programs. When the programs show up, left click on Accessories. Than left click "System Tools", and you will find "Windows Easy Transfer". Hope this helps.

Xenobuzz
I think I may have figured it out! I was looking in the Fallout 3\Data directory and I noticed that the icons for NMC's Performance Pack were not the same as the ones on the old system. When I tried to open the first file, the computer didn't know which program to use and that's when it hit me: I don't have WinZip or WinRar on this new PC! That would explain why so many textures were missing or incorrect! Hopefully, I'll have some time on Monday to test this theory and then dive once more into a wonderfully modded world! Xenobuzz
Since I've never done a transfer like this before, there are some obvious details that I failed to provide. It just occurred to me that I didn't mention that the new PC has two HD's, and I've installed F03 on the D drive, NOT the C drive. Would this present potential problems in simply copying the entire directory? I installed WinRar and 7 Zip and that didn't fix the problem of all the textures being missing. Xenobuzz
I FIXED IT!! Aaaah, sweet victory over stupidity! After reading through the specs on NMC's Performance Pack, I had a sudden forehead-slapping, "I could had a V-8/brain" moment when I realized that I hadn't dl'd, installed and run ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated. Now my sweet modded F03 is back to it's regular self! I tried re-loading an earlier game and still got an error message saying that some objects may be missing, but I'm going to start a new game anyway. However, I will do some tooling around in this to verify if indeed some textures are missing or if the error message is related to that game being saved on a different system and on a different HD. I also want to say that at first I was a little peeved that I didn't get many responses to my repeated queries on this issue, but I learned the answers for myself instead of them being handed to me, which is a far more beneficial lesson for me to remember for the future! Fonger
I tried re-loading an earlier game and still got an error message saying that some objects may be missing, fire up wrye bash/gary bash/wrye flash (it has alternate names) click on your save game and see what mod simply is not in your current mod list
M48A5
The message that some objects may be missing will come up everytime you remove a mod that was in your saved game that is not in your current game.
