Skyrim Special Edition

Hey everyone,

 

I'm trying to play a bit of skyrim special edition. For some reason when I press play It wont load at all. Looked at some videos across the net, tried cleaning the mods but to no avail.

 

Help please!

First and foremost, IF you cleaned Skyrim.esm, you should NOT have, verify your files through steam and ONLY clean the DLC's. The Update.esm is a HUGE debate, personally, I tell everyone NOT to clean it specifically because it is an extension of the Skyrim.esm.

 

Secondly, you have no merged or bashed patch file, you NEED this anytime you are using more than a few mods.

 

Below, this is wrong,

 

Skyrim.esm=1

Update.esm=1

Dawnguard.esm=1

Dragonborn.esm=1

ApachiiHair.esm=1

ApachiiHairFemales.esm=1

Falskaar.esm=1

Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch.esp=1 - should be DIRECTLY placed under Dragonborn.esm, don't worry about it being an esp extension, that's called a "falsely marked ESM"

You don't mention if you have used any tools like LOOT, so I would suggest you follow my guide STEP BY STEP and then post here afterwards.

Okay thanks i'll have a look at that - I've tried disabling all the mods now and it still wont run. Any idea why that would be ?

that's usually caused by UN installing a mod and trying to use the same save, when you uninstall a mod you break the save.

I cant even get to the stage of selecting a save or new game

ok that sounds like a missing patch or master file, follow my guide, with all mods loaded

Have to checked to make sure you have Microsoft Redistributable 2010? I had the same problem, but my system warned me that I needed to download and install that file. Then it worked. If windows doesn't tell you it's missing then chances are you are okay.

Um, if you have this game, then it's installed through steam, and steam automatically installs the redistributable IF you have a legal copy. Now, i am not saying your copy is illegal, steam DOES glitch or mess up sometimes, but normally that's how the redistributable is handled.

this happened to me when I installed an oldrim mod in my build of nearly 400 mods - some oldrim mods work, some don't. My problem mod was a simple mesh and texture replacer for laterns of all things... removed it from my LO and the game started launching again.

Yea some oldrim mods HAVE to be converted, while some don't. I learned that the hard way when I converted several mods for my own use, 3 of which I uploaded to the nexus after making sure I had the needed permission.
