SoLoMaGiK
For the grass problem I have a simple yet temporary fix. Raise the landscape enough to cover the grass, its trial and error but seems to be working for me.

NauticalSabre
Just a heads up I also had the problem with the textures and see responses people have given to fix it andam going to try them. On another note about how to fix the "floating grass" in the editor I also had this problem. BUT I FOUND THE SOLUTION I lookedup how to fix it and i found a way to fix it by going into skyrims directory ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim" this is what mine looks like) and find the INI file "SkyrimEditor" and open it. Then go to the [GRASS] section and there should be 2 lines in it: bAllowCreateGrass=1bAllowLoadGrass=0 The problem for me was the line "bAllowLoadGrass=0" was not in the file. After I put that line in there it would properly reload the grass from the textureswhenever I used a texture that had grass or not or when I changed the heightmap the grass would resettle on the terrain. I hope this would help someone
werwulf80
I have this problem with a really muddy textured after-image when I go in game after I carve out a big chunk of ground to built on. Which i can walk through and on the other side is the ground I dug out. How do i fix this?
soupdragon1234
The problem with the black terrain is caused by an excess of 6 textures on one exterior cell.Try this: once you find the location you want to texture, press "h" to bring up the landscape menu. Left-click any area on the ground in the render window and hit the "i" key; this should bring up the texture list. Once you have the texture list up look for a cell with more than 6 textures and delete the least used (other than the one your trying to place) or your least preferred texture. That should change the black texture into whatever texture you originally designated. Many thanks, was driving me nuts...Ok so here are some things I noticed: If you don't see the textures on the right it is because your data/textures folder contains larger than 512 landscape textures. It is likely you received a warning about this (when I want to use the CK I now rename that folder first). Its because the textures are in the BSA, you have to extract them as loose files if you want them to show up in the Textures window If painting black textures it is because you have 'edit colors' checked in the landscape edit settings.... but the correct way (I think) to setup for texture painting is to uncheck drawing mode and edit colors in the landscape edit settings. No its because you have more than 4 textures selected per quadrant. Edited November 28, 2015 by soupdragon1234
49scribes
Anyone else having the black spot issue WITHOUT 6+ textures, there's a stupidly easy fix I had to figure out for myself. I guess at some point in landscape editing the "Edit Colors" got enabled even though I didn't tick it and I had a nasty big old black spot that wouldn't go away no matter what I did even though I only had 2 textures in a cell. It was right in the center of a city mod I'm working on so I couldn't just leave it. Anyway, Edit Colors default has the first color set to Black and the second color set to White. If you set the first color to white in Edit Colors mode and repaint left click, your black spots will go away and the textures you SHOULD have there will reappear good as new. NexusComa
Anytime you run into black textures it's due to over texturing and/or to high of texture quality. In truth what is happening is a available memory thing. This really isn't a bug per say. You have just gone pastthe memory limits of Skyrim. Probably due to your mods or texture upgrades. If you see black in the Creation Kitthat most likely comes from over texturing. As in you just have to many textures in one area or on one object.
