mostlyhuman
Some of the skin texture mods look great but have too much sheen for my taste. What is the general workflow to lower the sheen? Thanks in advance!
mostlyhuman
Is it controlled in the texture file itself, or through a shader or the normal map? Edited February 12, 2012 by mostlyhuman
Ghogiel
By sheen I imagine you mean the gloss(specular power/exponent). This is controlled in the nif themselves in the BSLightingShaderProperty. In that you will be able to find a setting for gloss. Upping that number would pinch the specular falloff more, making a sharper highlight such as a glossly plastic or soemthing that might be a bit slimey or wet. Lowering it would widen the specular highlight, giving the material a more diffused reflection quality, such as like a rough surface would have. You could be referring to the specular strength and not the gloss though. For body models only, this is controlled in maps with the suffix _s. If you brighten that map, it'll reflect more light so will have brighter specular reflection. It'll look like this if you make the make whiter/brighter. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/imageshare/images/209926-1322312013.jpg Edited February 12, 2012 by Ghogiel
