Car Park Settlements.

So I've been scouting around for a while, looking to set up military outposts using Conquest. And the car parks would be amazing places to fortify and build upon with ease. Typically inside a town, nice and flat, square-shaped, only one or two entrances. They would be perfect if not for the non-ref AV objects. They really hinder any chance of making them practical and look good at the same time. Frames and busted cars are not helpful.

I was wondering if anybody has considered (or even made, but I couldn't find anything upon searching hence my asking now) turning the car parks into mini settlements?

howdy,

this is an awesome idea, and there's a bit to cover.

there are very few as yet as a standalone,

though with the Settlement Sharing system, it won't be long before it will be possible to share all that hehe.

essentially;

are you familiar with Petard, Oxhorn, MxR

GreekRage, ChuckSteel,

katie-plays or SunBunz? they've made similar settlements in real time

with a 'how-to' vid essentially of the build hehe.

you may find those of use in your own build.

now - this will depend on what you envisage for your car park of doom...

will there be a 'basement' - a hidden entrance/s?

do you want to have open areas, waterfalls, elevators?

i recommend you check out this thread too;

https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/5522717-fallout-4-optimization-and-performance-systems-explained/

Methodology:

Any Mod Any Where,

Basement living.

Red Rocket Settlements etc

Monorails,

Road Bridges and Parts Pack,

Any Door to Any Where

FO3 and FO4 Ploppable interiors.

FONV FO3 style basement panelling.

FONV style doors.

You will need to delete the clutter for the locale, and recombine that cell.

you can then build your workbench there,

and commence making your awesome settlement.

you may also need to alter spawns and the such for places like the Malden carpark etc.

If you want a hole in the carpark, you'll need a proper mesh for that.

alternately, you can connect a door "anywhere", to an interior 'newlands' cell, have the elevator,

and then go "through" the carpark surface,

then re-enter the area... much like FO3 etc.

We're working on using the priority system to "override" the combine,

and have it make it around that, make the Elevator Priority 1 fixed,

and the rest Priority 2... so that the elevator will "be there first",

and you won't need no-clip to go 'through' stuff that would adjoin it...

that's a little tricky though.

-----

a word of caution for placing your settlement.

The UnderBoston connects some sub-basements from the carparks into

'procedurally iterative' dungeons in the subterrain.

so, best to keep the UnderBoston and Enclave Returns of Institute overhaul

in mind for making your settlement.

I hope you find this of use,

and good luck making your carpark-fortress mod settlement!

Thanks for that link! Only just got a decent game going due to bugs, mods, conflicts, etc. and it's all running perfectly (touch wood) so I'm a little reluctant to stop just yet. I'll have a read about how to clear the clutter at some point when I'm not playing. Lunch break or whatever.

Although I do often feel that creative itch to modify a certain aspect of a game myself, I find it hard to create mods (have tried in the past with other games). I have the ability to learn and can become quite adept but boredom and/or frustration sets in quickly due to a relatively short fuse. Always seem to stop halfway and move onto another game/program/or stop altogether. Far too many abandoned projects over the years. That's why I though I would put in a request. There is a good chance I won't ever get around to doing this, you see. Not being lazy, just that I know there are people out there with far superior skills and knowledge, who could potentially do this in a fraction of the time it would take me to learn, attempt and quit before it's finished lol.

As for inspiration, I'm usually good for that. I try not to look at other's work and exercise my own creative muscles. But thank you again!
