Alaisiagae
I wanted to try out the armor from the Gray Fox Leather mod by Gwydeon; however, when I try to equip the armor, the meshes don't show up! The armor just makes my character's body turn invisible (except for my characer's equipped rings). When I used the "free" version esp (one esp ("reward") will put a leveled suit of the armor in the Thieves' guildmaster room, the other esp ("free") puts a set behind a low stone wall adjacent to Dareloth's basement), the ground textures for the armor and hood are purple! I've tried using version 1.0, version 1.1, and even downloaded the mod from planet elderscrolls. I have tried all three, and none of them will properly show the textures (the icons work fine, though). In the comments section for the mod on TESNexus, the user "thelast812000" says "if some one got a problem with purple colours of the armor, read this tutorial http://www.tessource.net/tutorials/tutorial.php?id=32." However, the link is broken because tessource has now become TESNexus, so I do not know which tutorial the user is referring to. Could some one please help me? OnyxNightBlack
Several possible problems come to mind: 1. The mod requires a different Body Replacer than you are using. The description does not state a specific body replacer, but it might still be modded with one in mind (This would explain your disappearing body). 2. Another possible problem might be a gender specific armor. If the armor is designed specifically for males/females and you are using it with the opposite gender, it causes your body to disappear aswell. Those two are the most likely things I can come up with.

Looking at the screenshots, the armor seems to be fitted for stock vanilla bodies. It wasn't just that my character's body disappeared; the armor wasn't visible either! When I put the hood on, it took up the hair slot, and parts of the character's head were see-through -- like, I could see the inner jaw through the back of the head. 2. Another possible problem might be a gender specific armor. If the armor is designed specifically for males/females and you are using it with the opposite gender, it causes your body to disappear aswell. Those two are the most likely things I can come up with.I rummaged around in the mod's files, and there are both male and female files (.nifs and .dds stuff) for the armor. Alaisiagae
BUMP! I'm not giving up on this mod! Could someone please, please lend me some advice/assistance? At least tell me what I can do in the CS or whatever to make sure the textures/meshes show up (assuming my CS doesn't crash on me, like it does anytime I save my changes when I've added data from another mod). bben46
The problem is not related to the CS. The CS is for creating new mods. Your problem is the Textures and meshes from the mod are not being placed into the proper place. Meshes - .nif files go in the meshes directory Oblivion\Data\Meshes. The textures - dds files go in the textures file Oblivion\data\textures. If they are in any other place the game can not find them and shows them as invisible, purple or as a yellow block with an exclamation point inside. If you have the file you originally downloaded you should see the subfolders for both meshes and textures in it - I downloaded it and looked - they are there. If you unzip the meshes folder from the downloaded file into the Oblivion\data\meshes folder and the textures folder into the oblivion\data\textures folder it should work. It puts the content in folder paths like so:" Data\Meshes\Armor\Gray Fox Leather" and "Data\Textures\Armor\Gray Fox Leather."
bben46
That should work. I tested it in my game, downloaded & installed. The files were in the place you say you put them. I went to the house, opened the chest and put on the armor of the gray fox. Worked fine. Check to see if the .dds and .nif files are in the folders. I went to the house, opened the chest and put on the armor of the gray fox. Worked fine. Check to see if the .dds and .nif files are in the folders.I double checked, the .nifs and .dds files are in the approriate folders, all are present and accounted for.I tested this again, putting the mod at the bottom of the load order in case it was conflicting with something (Content mods are usually a lower priority, and hence I place them further up on my load order). I used the mod version 1.1 and the Reward.esp (not the Free.esp). I tried the armor on again, but no luck. I noticed, however, that the contents of the chest change -- there is the Gray fox leather, but also some random clutter, even if I cleared out the guildmaster chest before installing the mod. See, I made a save in the room, then activated the mod. I found the armor along with Shears and Hand Scythe. I reloaded the save game, and this time there was the Armor and just a Hand Scythe, and after reloading again, there was the armor and Russet Felt Outfit. I don't know if that is significant or not. I appreciate that you downloaded and tried the mod, thank you. I mentioned the CS earlier becaue I thought the problem was that the plugin wasn't made correctly -- like, it wasn't pointing to the correct folder path for the meshes and textures or something. My character is a female Khajiit, head of all the guilds, and I'm not running and body replacer mods. I have all the DLCs (including Battlehorn), though I don't have the KoTN esp activated at the moment. I have the Unofficial patches installed, too. On my computer, Oblivion is installed in this way: Local Disk (C:)\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion
nosisab
As already stated this happens when textures and meshes are not found, or found the wrong ones. As you checked and the files are there, so seems the problem is some type of error on 'archive invalidation' of kind. Since using the txt file is now deprecated, if you have OBMM or another utility that do this kind of job you can try redoing it. On OBMM you would just click on 'Utilities' button, so in Archive invalidation and in the now open window click in 'update now'. Close OBMM, restart the game and good luck. nosisab
If the mod use some BSA file, maybe it need to be registered, you can do this in the same window archive invalidation is done. This step seldom is needed as in doing archive invalidation obmm would do the necessary things. but, maybe, some conflicting BSAs can fool it, so is time to more drastic steps as reseting timestamps, avoid doing this if not absolutely necessary.
