KimCheeWarrior
would there be a way to create a mod to kill enemies that can be found underwater, like mirelurks? its really annoying to have to wait for these enemies to come out of the water so i can attack them. i dont know why they didnt keep the formula from games like morrowind where you could use melee weapons underwater. that would at least give us some kind of option instead of us just sitting there twiddling our thumbs while we wait for them to leave the water IF they feel like it. i guess what im asking for is, could you make a mod that would let us kill enemies that are in the water while we're not in the water and/or when we're in the water. not sure if it can be done but i at least have to ask. M48A5
The quickest way to accomplish your goal is to lob a few frag grenades their way. Works on any enemy.
KimCheeWarrior
but wouldnt it be better if you were able to shoot them in the water or stab them while youre in the water? i know grenades are one way but it doesnt make any sense that you cant even harm them in the slightest with bullets and melee weapons if theyre submerged. im really surprised that no one has made a mod which would enable this yet, that is, unless there isnt a way. it seems like a pretty important issue to me. ive seen an abundance of mods on here that cater to more trivial problems. M48A5
For myself, I would rather wait for the enemy to come out of the water instead if subjecting myself to the radiation in the water. Depending on your health, it would be possible to be killed by radiation or drowning while trying to kill an enemy that you probably could not loot. kibblesticks
It's a very good point. I always find Bethesda's water combat situations to be frustrating and it'd be nice if someone could fix it. Seeing as though it hasn't been fixed for four games now though, I'm afraid that probably means there's just no way to do it. Nice idea though. M48A5
The problem with using projectile or energy weapons for underwater foes, is that of refraction and resistance. In order to be anywhere realistic, you would have to be able to adjust for the change in actual position as opposed to viewed position. Water bends light waves so that where you see something is not where it actually is. It's hard to explain without diagrams. The other is the loss of kinetic energy of projectiles. Water being much denser than air results in significant loss of energy when the projectile enters the water. Energy weapons would just spread across the service of the water. Using some sort of explosive is about the only way to damage an underwater foe. That is why the navies of the world use torpedoes and depth charges.
