Weapon color changer/decals?

Sadly nobody thought of, or had interest in, making these for Vanilla weapons. But if you are interested in custom weapons, there are quite a few out there. Here are a few recommendations:

RU55 rifle.

A soviet inspired weapon with lots of mods and options and has about 8 preset of colors to choose from (change in workbench). Funny enough, it also has ways to multiply damage by 20, 40, 60, 80% in case you find the weapon not strong enough for your taste and pester the creator to change something.

Doombased Weapon Merge

A compilation of some 6-7 weapons ever created by this author. His weapons are very high quality. He just put them all in 1 mod to be easy for players to have without having some 5-6 .esp. There are quite a few weapons with color options. I don't use all of them. But I can tell you Mac-11 has some 6-7 decals, SCAR-LK, CBJ Nailgun, these 3 I use extensively.

And if you want to customize the paint/decal, all you need to do is to hunt down the texture files and replace them with your own. Just need some photoshop skill, no coding required. I know it's possible but I haven't tried them on these myself. But I have modified similar mods this way. A few mods I found their color selection too bright or comical, or just not to my taste, so I opened these files in Photoshops, and added whatever I want. And I just have to remember that my personal texture is linked to this certain name/description. You can do more, but that requires editing in CK or FO4edit.

Another interesting note: Do you ever want your magnum revolver looking silver like what they have at gun stores? I occasionally frequent gun range, and that weapon caught my eyes because it looks silver, not black. I generally dislike big caliber weapon (in real life) because of the recoil (at sacrifice in accuracy). In a gun fight, I rather have a .22 than a magnum because I can shoot faster and more accurately. But that doesn't stop me to think it's a cool looking weapon.

Out of all the retexture of the magnum .44 in game, none of them look good to me. The only one that looks just like real life is from this mod

It's actually not a retexture only but also gives you 3-4 revolves that uses different ammo types. I just feel the weapons were not as well done, the mods were not that great. So I installed it, but disabled the .esp, just so I can have the re-texture of the .44 Magnum revolver in game :)

There are tons of weapons to choose from. And when you are used to weapon shopping on Nexus, you can tell which weapons were made with quality (good graphic, good animation, overall feel immersive, not a half baked mod in development). And reliable mod creators clean up their mods nicely without causing conflicts in your games (there are quite a few dirty mods that caused my game to crash or generally messed up my workbench menu).

Doombased weapon pack gives you a great selection of pistols, assault rifles, and sniper weapons. But i would like to show you another weapon pack

Skibadaa Weapon Collection

This pack has 1 of my all time favorite weapon (for ammo type, distance and fire power balance, and mod options). It has a few big weapons that look way nicer than in game minigun.

And it's very American to enjoy the M4A1 and M16 rifles.

They are very well made. I personally have a little against the rifles being up so high in first person view. But maybe it's not a concern for you.

So you are a world builder? That I presume would mean you use a lot of settlement building mods? The good news for weapon mods is that they are usually very self sufficient and can install/uninstall on a whim (do check for each creator's note though). I downloaded all weapons I like but I don't always install/enable them until I need. Unlike settlement stuff that may cause a hole in the world if you uninstall something ... a weapon disappearing in inventory doesn't hurt anyone.

I personally struggle at 245 ESP right now. 10 more mods and I am maxed out.

Even better, I need to get into doing that myself. I am an avid The Sims fanatic. All I do was build build build. Should have gone into architecture instead of computer science. But I quit Sims because the game is way too unstable and painful to play.

Don't forget to upload some nice house designs when you get around to it.

Oh wait, if you are into building stuff, have you heard of Settlement Transfer? It basically saves your settlement's build into a file that you can transfer to another game, or upload to share. It is different than CK building, but I thought you may have interest in that too.
