Chameleon Set Sucks - Any Alternative Suggestions?

So the chameleon effect in game bothers the hell out of me and there aren't any mods out there to make the effect just go away. The most they do is make most of it go away, but then your character looks semi-transparent no matter if you're sneaking or not. So what's the second best thing to have as a stealth character? Maybe just mod some combat armor the best I can?

Shadowed,muffled combat armor works,sort of.. but to be really stealthy... do NOT bring companions,any companions,not even your Dog,your Hamster or your pet budgie..you might get away with it if you bring your pet rock,but don´t count on it..

I'm a scout-type and use stealth. This is what I've found to be most efficient without having that (stupid) effect:

 

Companions are okay to bring, if you can mod them. But your best bet would be to download Heather Casdin, if you do want a (female) companion. She has four levels in Sneak and doesn't affect the stealth meter. She can still be seen by enemies, in the right conditions (i.e. stood out in the open) but in the time I've used her, she has rarely given away position while in stealth.

 

As for my own Sneak, just have up to Level 4. No more is needed.

 

Combat Armour-wise, All Shadowed. Both legs have Muffled effect and the rest Ultra-Light. On both of us.

 

Voila. Half-decent stealth gameplay.

 

You have to remember though, this isn't really a stealth game so you can't expect too much from it.

Well, if you want stealth to be stronger, you could try my Supah Ninja mod. It just edits a few variables to make stealth stronger, without making you translucent.

 

Other than that, you really want to take the stealth perks AND find all the stealth manuals AND the stealth bobble, because they make a huge difference.

 

And of course, you want to be shadowed and muffled. Can I interest you in my shadowed synth armour and shadowed power armour mods? The latter is actually a bit of a misnomer: it's both shadowed and muffled. So yeah, you can be a stealth tank so to speak :tongue:

Oh, and while I'm at beating my own drum, both my "shadowed" Silver Shroud and the Punisher Coat add a significant bonus to your stealth.
