having a problem about equipment on npc follower

I have a problem on my skyrim, before I reinstalled skyrim, all of follower npc not having a problem when equip armor from mod and can equip based on her skill (light armor or heavy armor)

now after I reinstall skyrim and add a bunch of mod, all of my npc cannot equip armor from mod and they can only equip vanilla armor

how to make them equip armor from mod again?

is it safe to install this mod in the middle of playthrough?

should be. just make sure you dismiss your follower before you install it.
