Finding item ID codes

How do you find item ID codes?

 

I'm back in Morrowind for the first time for ages, playing the Hlaalu quests. For tedious reasons, I have to go back to an earlier savegame: but I want to keep my bow (Ebony Longbow of Sureflight), and I can't remember where I got it.

 

It doesn't feature in any of the published lists of ID codes that I've seen. I've tried every version of the name that I can think of in the console, but without any luck.

 

So: how can I find out the code for this item (or any other, come to that)?

The only one I can remember would be something like this

player->AddItem "shortbow of sanguine sureflight" 1

 

for an ebony longbow I can think only it is from some mod.

Thanks - that's a thought that hadn't occurred to me. :whistling:

I believe there's an app called "wingrep" which you could use to search your .esp files for the name of the object. That might give a clue if it's in a particular mod. I'm on Linux so I just use the system "grep" command to do this whenever I'm trying to find things like this.
