garthagain
Even though this mod is bugged, I consider it essential for settlement management. The mod has been pulled from the Nexus by the Mod author, until he gets it fixed. I am running Version 1.5.157.0 of FO4 and Version 1.69 of Don't Call Me Settler.( I always proceed with caution when doing game updates simply because they can mess up your game. You should always check the update reviews, and do a game backup before installing one. I didn't like the sounds of what update 1.6 would do, so I didn't do it. Don't have Nuka World, but so what.) Watch the video. [Edit] see also my page 2 comment: "Going back to my initial post" You can still get Don't Call Me Settler. Links removed. If I have to do this again I'm going to block you from posting - TVD. Edited June 5, 2017 by garthagain
Ethreon
Mod taken down for valid reasons, stop trying to make it sound like it wasn't. Also, 100% sure those website have no right to put the mod up. And ofc, lastly there's already a safe and working alternative to DCMS.

I did not say anything about valid or invalid reasons for pulling the mod. I did say " The mod has been pulled from the Nexus by the Mod author, until he gets it fixed ". If you watch the video, you'll see there is a safe way to use the mod.( video link removed) As for other sites having no right to put the mod up, I don't know. All I can say is get it while you can. Sorry about the illegal links, I had no idea. Edited June 1, 2017 by garthagain

tomomi1922
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/23391/? Nothing against the mod author, but why FO4 makes it so hard to change settler faces and names? It would be nice if we can use a console command or pop up a menu to edit their names. But no, Bethesda has to make us jump hoops to get a name changed. For knowledge sake, what was the problem of Don't call me settler? I read quite a few other mods warning us about it. But I didn't know the exact reason. Edited June 2, 2017 by tomomi1922
garthagain
RE: TOMOMI1922 " what was the problem of Don't call me settler? " The problem with the mod, according to some people, is that it quites working properly for no apparent reason, or if you use some of the mod features, it will bug. If you do a save when the mod is broke, you will have serious problems managing your settlements; eg; you can no longer assign settlers. With the version I'm using, I did get caught more than once, and had to go back to a previous unbugged save. While this problem may manifest from different causes, with different game setups, I am only familiar with mine. In my game I found that I only got the bug after installing a new mod, usually settlement related. My practice now is to always check to see if Don't Call Me Settler is working properly after the installation of a new mod. If Don't Call Me Settler isn't working properly, I reinstall it, and it then works. I have done this on three occasions to date. If a mod breaks, I prefer it CTD me right out: it either works or it doesn't. But mods like this cause hidden corruption in game .... it's the worst. You can't tell when things start to go wrong, until you get to a point of no return (where things are all broken up). And you have no idea how far back you have to go in savegame to have a working save. For your own good, wake up. You think you know your game but honestly even Bethesda staff may not even have the right tool to look into your save and tell you exactly what is wrong, let alone anyone out here. So be grateful that people caught the mod causing problem, and even the author finds his own mod unstable and takes it down for the good of the community. So why are you working yourself into a hole? I have more than enough experience dealing with corruptions. Skyrim, The Sims 2, The Sims 3, Fallout 4 .... at one point I found myself with a completely broken save (it runs perfectly fine, but always CTD at ONE spot, even I remove all mods). And suddenly all the progress I made in game went to waste and there is no telling my current mod setup is safe or dangerous. That's how I quit Skyrim. Fallout 4 is a lot more resilient imo, but not invincible. So get rid of mods that cause problems! My 2 cent, up to you to take it or not. But don't let me have the last laugh of "I told you so!" I sure pushed a button with this post, I think that's a good thing and hope more people add their comments. Like you I have a lot of experience working through game corruptions, etc., not only with other games and mods, but with my own work in map building. I have made my assessment with this mod. Will I eventually have a problem? I don't think so. What I should add though, is USE AT YOUR OWN RISK, WHAT WORKS FOR ME MAY NOT WORK FOR YOU. I have added a link to this page in the Youtube video's description. Edited June 2, 2017 by garthagain
Ethreon
The mod's been pulled down by the very author. Sure, it works with just the renaming (and there are newer and updated/cared for mods that do that and are accessible), but using any of the other functions means bye to your save.
