Deleted3258978User
[EDIT 6/6/2017: I have found a solution for anyone facing a similar problem! See posts below, this issue is SOLVED!~] Hey there, I was having trouble with recruiting companions and I ended up force recruiting Cait through console, and now I'm unable to dismiss her normally. I can get to the dismissal topic, and she acknowledges that she's being dismissed, but the usual menu that pops up to choose where to send her doesn't appear and she keeps following me like nothing happened. It turned out, after fiddling with my load order and reinstalling mods, that it was easily fixed and now the rest of my companions work just fine, but my save file still has Cait recruited through this method of console commands and I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to dismiss her or if I just have to keep putting up with her. Here's what I did: 1. setrelationshiprank player 42. setplayerteammate 13. setconsolescopequest followers4. forcerefintoalias companion5. tai6. tcai7. tai8. tcai Thanks for any help or advice you can provide. I've looked everywhere and can't find a console command method to dismiss companions but maybe someone here can help. Deleted3258978User
Please, is there anyone familiar with console commands that can help? Is there a way to reverse the commands I entered, or maybe change the values of the commands I listed to get the result I'm looking for? Do I need to provide any other additional information? Her accent is endearing at first but once I realized I can't get rid of her, all of the random lines she says are starting to get super irritating. Deleted3258978User
GREAT NEWS! After some heavy duty in depth research, I figured out a fix on my own!~ Simply put, I found console command instructions here for dismissing companions recruited through the method I used initially at http://www.fallout4mods.net/fallout-4/gameplay-effects-and-changes/unlimited-companions-console-support/ If you don't want to read through that article, I'll post the steps below:open console and click on Cait (or any follower you may have this problem with) and enter the following commands: setconsolescopequest followers emptyrefalias companion setplayerteammate 0After doing so, Cait was force-dismissed, and I was able to re-hire her and dismiss her again to a location of my choosing. Also, there doesn't seem to be any side effects (at least none present yet) and my affinity level with her is intact. SharraShimada
What about just getting another companion? It dismisses the old. Works fine for the Aida bug.
Deleted3258978User
What about just getting another companion? It dismisses the old. Works fine for the Aida bug.If only it were that easy... Perhaps that'd be the case if I didn't have the Unlimited Companion Framework mod. This is a fix for anyone who uses that mod and/or has a companion that won't leave, regardless of the reason behind it. In the case of having multiple companions, hiring another doesn't cause anyone to leave, and in some cases, if the companion is bugged to all hell due to console commands (such as my case), this is a tried, tested, and true method to solve the issue, without any weird side effects that sometimes happens with console command use. It's a pretty safe way to force-dismiss otherwise bugged companions, even if you didn't initially recruit them in the way I described in my original post. On a note unrelated to you or your comment, I just wanna say I'm glad that the info I've provided has helped people. If anyone else in the future comes across this thread, and it helps them, feel free to leave me some kudos on my profile. It's not a big deal, but getting kudos is nice and makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
