Bizzare Texture problem after hard crash

Hello there everyone, thanks for taking the time to click this, i wonder if you might be able to help me out with a really weird problem

I installed a whole bunch of mods, but (didn't remove any) played normally then due to a power problem I'm having my computer cold shutsdown. Not a great sign I know, its a chronic under-powered PSU problem I've had and lived with for a while.

Now usually when this happens, the screen goes black suddenly and then two seconds later comp powers down. I power back up no reload..continue. The last time however my comp just shutdown instantly. Now when I load a previous save Skyrim says save relies on content no longer available (however i did'nt de-activate any mods nor did i over-write anything).

When the game loads BOOM awful low res textures all over the place, i usually play with textures set to high now they look like low, i cannot fix this. Have defaulted graphics on loader, its retests & sets to Vhigh) i lower AA and continue, no difference

I set textures to low, everything looks terrible, exit, set to high, still looks awful including high res textures I have activated in the mod manager, re textured dawnbreaker, Accingnite HQ shield retextures look like they were drawn in crayon no matter what i do.

Does anyone have any idea whats happened, im assuming perhaps the worst that the game may have corrupted somehow, is there a way to reset beyond what i've done? (have also tried disabling,re-enabling HQ mods no effect, can the game even force low resolutions on these?)

Open to ideas, speculations, lamentation of my system etc.

Some details of specs 2.4Dualcore,4870 (now underclocked, CPU bottleneck anyway) patch 1.4 also recently installed new GPU drivers in order to underclock

It happens when files are caught on open state and them may become corrupted.

The low textures resolution seems to point your Skyrim.ini and/or SkyrimPrefs, ini was lost and redone from scratch with low specs.

The warning about missing content is... missing contents... your situation is that you may need to reinstall the mods, maybe the whole game depending on the extension of the corruption or file loss.

Edit: You may want to try the chkdsk on the disk you have the game installed. If it is the C: you may need to let it mark the check for the next reboot. Do it.

To do this test you can enter "chkdsk /F x:" where x is the partition letter, commonly the C: the command is entered without the quotes

or right click the disk on Explorer, click "properties" and from there "Tools", there the first option "Error-checking" does the same trick.

Thanks, chkdsk is a good idea, its toggled for next restart.

I've done some playing around, changing textures from LOW/HIGH does alter some in-game textures, carpets for example obviously improve but textures applied to models, armor/weapons/lots of others do not, strange.

Oh I'm not sure this is related but I'm fairly sure it is; the quest it was on, (main dragon quest) had to find Elron or similar hiding in riften ratway, he was behind a (prison?) door, when I found him, there was no sound to his voice, going through the chat menu was also instant when response was chosen, he also didn't open to the door afterwards to continue the talk as the quest journal said I should afterwards so I was stuck. I'm assuming that's another symptom of corruption, its not a known problem with that quest?

Anyway to fix the ini's? Is it worth digging around in them? I tried manually deleting the Skyrimprefs.ini in the root game folder, game loaded fine didn't even create a new file :D

Do you think I can continue from that savegame with a fresh install. Mod-manager (MM) keeps the original zips i believe so they should be fine to reload from. I think I'll have to re-download some stand alone .esp's for old mods i had running (pre-MM) in case of corruption, correct?

That issue with the Blade guy in Riften is old known although I don't know if it was fixed by 1.4 patch. I don't recall it from the memory alone, it involves extracting the respective voice files from the BSA and placing it at /data,

Search for this specific bug, it is well known and the solution documented in several threads.

Edit: About the mods themselves, this may be a good opportunity to look if they have updates before reinstalling. About the savegame(s), I can't say, you must try and hope for the best. All depends on which files were caught open and/or had not the Windows caching system commit changes in them yet.

So after waaay too much messing, it turns out there's an infuriating issue with the new ATI drivers (11.11 i believe) that forces crap low level texture rendering on Skyrim/Fallout & probably more. You have to change Mipmap detail level from performance (default) to quality in order to get back to a similar looking texture onscreen. WHY THE F would you do this AMD

This was infuriating, and i just re-installed Skyrim !!!!!
