ELFX seemingly broken: need help!

I've run into an issue with Enhanced Lights and FX.

I originally was running it with a pretty stable mod loadout: no other lighting mods, SMIM and Climates of Tamriel were the only potential conflicts. And then I attempted to improve performance by installing ENBoost, which I may have botched by installing the entire ENB rather than just the bug fixes. As a result, Enhanced Lights and FX seemingly broke, leading to heavy flickering lights, lights coming through walls, and the color palette getting totally messed up. No matter what I do I can't seem to fix it.

I uninstalled skyrim and most of my mods, reinstalling them using Mod Organizer this time. However, the problems persisted, even when just running ELandFX in isolation. So I'm pretty sure the issue isn't with the mod, since it had been working well before, but what damage could installing an ENB have caused that's made ELandFX completely unusable? Is there some other glitch I'm unaware of?

if you want to just use enboost without the graphics, you can go in the enblocal.ini and set "UsePatchSpeedhackWithoutGraphics=true".

are you using the enhancer module? might try deactivating that or some of the enb settings.

I did a complete uninstall of the ENB and the problems still persisted. The Enhancer exacerbates the problem, but even without it the lighting is totally messed up.

Okay, so I've managed to bring the game to settings i like. But without ELFX installed the game looks like a lighting nightmare, even worse than vanilla. I have tried deleting my preferences, and mind you, this is after 2 clean installs.

What on earth could be causing the games lighting to screw up this badly?

Unless you completely deleted all of the files in the Skyrim folder the .enb files are probably still there. Deleting the game via Steam only deletes official game files, everything you've added yourself gets left behind. Make sure to go into the game files and manually delete all of the ENB related content including the shaders and texture files that came with the ENB.

Left a link for a mod that helps when you're first starting out using enb's and other post process injection add-ons for Skyrim.

Also, double check and make sure your ELFx is towards the bottom of your load order, otherwise there's potential for other mods to overwrite it.
