Weapon bashing seems somewhat anemic...

Weapon bashing never seems to do much damage at all for me, even with weapmods that enhance the damage. Is it supposed to be weak? Do I need to get the Basher perks to do any meaningful damage with them? Does weapon weight have a factor? Energy weapons tend to be rather light compared to slugthrowers.

that is an interesting question.

 

I believe mass of the implement is a multiplier in the overall game-mechanics multivariate.

basher perks and ninja can make for very awesome 'stealth kills' from a pencil shiv bayonet.

it's like the Sand-person perk, or twinkle toes, and you can get x 16 damage on a successful sneak.

 

after the 'dynamic weapon bench zeroing points' project completes,

there was talk of

making the bayonet slot reference a bound melee weapon...

that's right - your favorite implement can be a bayonet fitting!

 

if we can affix suppressors and bayonet fittings on the fly,

we can affix or remove bayonets hehe.

 

 

 

pickmans blade, those folding butterfly/folding kukhri

or a shem-drowne's stunning serrated ripper

on the bayonet fitting of your implement,

based partly on the "shiv's of the wasteland" project.

that would make the weapon-equipped melee much more damaging.

even attaching a simple shishebab or pool-cue-ripper-chainsaw,

greatly improves the damage output.

 

It seems that Bethesda wanted to implement that,

but it was cut from the game at some point and never returned to or restored.

it is a fairly awesome idea though.

 

granted, it looks stupid attaching that to a

derringer or spud-implement or the noisy-cricket,

though it works hehe.

 

another variant is,

the passive buff cooldown replacer for that useless weapon-bash melee.

so, there's the 'overcharge backpack', which gives you ~30seconds of unlimited ammo for lazer and rad weapons,

you merely fill the apparel container with the power pack type you want.

you can put 3 fusion cores, or up to 800 cells, and combos of those.

thats 3 bursts of x 30 seconds after the 2&1/2 minute cooldown.

or, up to 800 extra rounds on tap without needing to change cells.

this does come at a cost;

clocking in loaded at ~60lbs or 48lbs for the 800 cells, you will probably be overencumbered in anything other than power armor.

the accuracy is woeful, and on survival or with any mod any fail,

using the overcharge pack will require an adaptor receiver

and will 100% burn out BOTH the pack and the gun.

so, although you can use a lazer musket as an improvised lazer-gat,

the gattling lazer will always be the better option.

much less chance of reliability issues with the gattling lazer, and better accuracy.

 

a similar thing is,

the protectron armor disguise,

which replaces the heavy unarmed attack

with a low-power but free unlimited ammo light lazer attack! its a fixed 50 electrical.

now you can fool wastelander into thinking you are the Robo-Protectron-Cop.

you can equip just the gloves/glove and the power backpack,

to use only one of the protectron lazer blasts. so, it'd be a punch and then a 25 electrical blast.

 

there's also an assaultron 'cyclops' helmet in the works,

which allows you to fire an assaultron beam in place of unarmed alternate melee while wearing the cyclops helmet.

 

----

We're still working on dual-wielding/weapons akimbo in FO4,

and ideally it would be possible to use a 1 handed weapon with a 1 handed melee implement,

perhaps with penalties for off hand or using a 2 hander with a 1 hander...

being able to independently target things with both equipped implements though would be excellent,

especially for the airborne X01 powerarmor,

being able to fly and hover and attack the different targets would be awesome.

 

there was also an 'extendo-boxing-glove'/'go-go-boxing-glove'

which was a hydraulic or spring-loaded novelty boxing glove,

to punch enemies with a 'force power', for 'one-punch playthroughs".

you punch them, and they're moved away with 10 000 collision force!

I do not know where that mod went to,

but that'd be a novelty bayonet for sure!

@montky - that is interesting. I'd like to see that. Than I can turn my pipe weapons into axes, and they'll be good for something.

 

I rebalanced my own game, well most weapons anyway among other things. Hitting someone in head for me is goodnight for them. Sneak kills mid is pretty cool too.

 

Overall as a mechanic, it's just in the way of the grenade key. I barely ever use it. I'm glad it's there but I never use it. If it wasn't there, it would be a nexus best selling mod for sure lol.

Weapon bashing is really boring / useless. I've added a special bash to my Better Perks mod, where you can sprint and bash an enemy to knock them off their feet. Really liked that feature.

This is something i need to adress too, in my current Better Locational Damage mod. Which does much more than the name implies. Yes... i should change the name... but well...

 

I'm probably going to change it to a heavy stagger or something like that. So you can bash your enemy to buy some time to react. If someone has some cool ideas for weapon bashing, i really would like to hear them.

 

My sub mod, Stab and Break(is integrated in Better Locational Damage) already uses some Bash kill moves as stealth kill moves. You can sneak upon your enemy with a rifle and press a button(Standard Keyboard Key R) to excute the stealth kill. Before i integrated them, i've never seen those animations. In fact, there are also knife kill animations i've never seen before.

that's awesome to hear you're making a better melee mod!

and, better locational stuff for vats hehe,

random vats MCMC enemies would be a pain in the butt to hit,

if you combined that with b2-D-b2's 'stick figure' people that need a headshot to destroy...

that'd get real tricky hehe.

 

 

 

yeah, having separate buttons for stealth sandman stuff is much more ergonomic hehe,

being able to chain the melee bash with an immediate blast would be nice;

madmax style, you fire into the melee'd person, and can rinse and repeat.

 

being able to weapon bash in VATS would also be hilarious.

say I lose a card game, I can flip the table and go Red-Dead to town hehe.

 

will the ripper still have a chance to dismember folks?

being able to curb stomp the enemy after they've been rippered

would be fairly fun hehe.

 

being able to use some wastelanders/raiders as a 'human shield',

if you continue to hold the bash button and do not release it,

that'd be hilarious. Especially during the Institute raid...

 

I'd like to see your take on the FONV 'shotgun glove'

or a protectron-lazer replacer for the weapon bash heavy attack, that'd be fun.

 

If only a collab with RuadHan2300's 'blink' mod,

could somehow let you blink-weaponbash hehe,

that would be overpowered, right?

 

one last thing comes to mind;

the rhodesian draw - also known as a 'pistol-pommel whip"/"grip-slap"

being able to melee bash with a pistol and use the whip or slap animation would be hilarious.

Yes, i already overhauled melee combat with my mod. Still its not a good idea to bring a knife to a gun fight.

I have also added a kick feature, which can be triggered, when your enemy blocks an attack. Its hard to see in this video, but you get an idea.

 

 

 

I really like melee combat and i want to advance it with new moves and ideas.

Its also possible to stab someone from the front, when he is low on health, unfortunately there is no video from that.
