CTD after launch

Having this issue as well. Glad it's not just me. I have also tried the sound fix. I have been googling for about an hour and the only solutions I find is the sound fix, as well as running TESV.exe in Windows 95 compatibility mode. Nothing has worked so far.

Edit: I don't know why I didn't try it before, but deactivating all my mods in NMM fixed the problem, but then activating them all broke it again.

Tried deactivating them all again, it worked, then exited Skyrim and started activating mods one at a time. Worked after 3 activated mods, then I started activating mods in groups (not any particular combination of mods, just random) until I had almost all of them working. I left out some mods that I only just now realized I never used, as well as some of the more recent mods that I downloaded. In addition, I unsubbed some workshop mods. Game seems to be working fine now, minus some mods.

With all that in mind, I'm not convinced that this crash is from a mod conflict. One of the mods that I activated again was the most recent mod I downloaded, "Sounds of Skyrim - The Wilds"... It was after installing that mod that this problem began. Now, the mod is active and the game is working.

LajkosMajkos - Try doing what I did, de-activate all your mods then start re activating them one by one. I don't know if it will work, but it did for me, and the problem you're describing is identical to mine.

I'm having the exact same issue with no real help available anywhere on the internet. Like ThighHighs, I deactivated some mods and it would work but it happened again a couple of weeks later after I installed a couple more mods and things are getting wonky again. I really hope a proper fix can be found for this because I friggin KNOW these mods should work and play nice together.

I should note that I didn't have an issue until I started using the Steam workshop so I tried uninstalling all of my workshop mods and installing the same mods through the Nexus Mod Manager. WELL: most of those mods I tried to install through the mod manager all started saying "can't find aof detailedmountains.bsa" or whatever the exact filename was but that mod is just textures! No bsa or esm file! WHY!

@Sister Bob

Well, it looking for .BSA already let's clear it is trying to find a mod previously downloaded from WS. Supposing the problem is only in a save game, try cleaning it with Wrye's bash. Search the Nexus for it.

@all

All the above posts points to outdated mods being the guilt. Try getting the last version of them, some plugins like those based on Script dragon or based on SKSE forcibly must be updated to the version of game's patch. I mean, don't try using the utility version for the game's beta patch if not using it.

Above all, be aware that mixing installation of the same mod from WS and Nexus is prone to give problems because WS model uses the BSA encapsulated format (which will be source of nightmares soon enough). Make sure to remove whatever BSA from previously installed WS mods before trying to use NMM. Conversely make sure to totally deactivate mods from Nexus before installing the same mod from WS, albeit as far as I know the BSA driven mod blatantly ignores the /Data and this is what I see as it's main weakness and reason for the talk about nightmares.

@nosisab

Thanks for the tip. I ended up getting frustrated and am reinstalling Skyrim clean through steam right now. I'm hoping this fixes my immediate issues. If I still run into the problems I was having trying to install mods, I'm hoping that Wrye's bash can fix things.

Suffice it to say that I won't be using the workshop anymore.
