rubysaphire
Hi all, I'm new here and I'm looking for guidance. For my own enjoyment I have majorly overhauled and extended a player house mod (greystone castle) that I got from steam. I'm thinking of uploading my work to nexus for others to enjoy, but I'm concerned because some of the content is from the original mod which isn't mine. I'd be happy to contact the original author (crim5on duck) for permission, but I don't have any way to do so. From what I can tell, the author has not been active on steam since 2012 and he explicitly said in the discussion there that he has abandoned the mod and is no longer involved in Skyrim modding at all. He has made his profile private and I don't see any way to contact him. The mod is not available currently on Nexus or anywhere else from what I can tell. I see from the Nexus file upload page that there is a lot of vigilance around ensuring that permission is granted from original mod authors, so I does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can/should do? Am I just out of luck and should forget about publishing what I've done? Is there some way to contact the original author that I'm not seeing? Thanks for your thoughts. Rabbit1251
In truth you can do whatever you want to to anyone elses mod that you wish for your own use. But if you want to share it (upload it) you cannot do so without the original artists' permission regardless of how long they have been gone from the modding scene. Sorry. rubysaphire
Thanks for your reply. That's fine. I just did it for my own use really. Publishing was an afterthought. Thanks again.
