What is your dream build?

Recommended Posts

Nanobots are dumb.

My dream build accept inputs through actual movement and perfectly realistic weapons, offers unlimited voice input/output dialog, creates nonlinear yet intelligent game storylines and plays them out in real time, using a team of two million dedicated actors, writers, artists, builders and landscapers.

actually sounds like your describing a development team, not a computer. but hey, if you wanna cram 2 million people into your house and use that as your internet, by all means

It's a way to play games. If you have 2 million loyal subjects at your disposal, why bother with a computer in between? All that a gaming computer does is store content created by humans, and then deliver it to you. Poorly.

Captured terrorists can be used as mooks to spice the game with blood and gore. Should terrorists run out, invade another country to piss people off and create more.

ok well it was fun to stretch the term "dream build" but now your just stretching it past what it could be construed as and being overly serious about it.

I am now bored with this topic  :P

I don't think this thread ever had much serious potential. These days PC performance is limited almost entirely by software; a $20,000 PC and a $2,000 one are indistinguishable in terms of performance.

And if you think my proposal to invade countries on whim to create more terrorists was serious...

The only way you could use tons of money to squeeze more performance out of existing desktop software is to have a lawyer bribe people who have access to engineering samples of yet unreleased hardware to get it to you.

ok so realistically, if i had to build a PC, this would be it. this isnt the PC id build if i had $43473892473289. this is the PC i would put real money into and be happy with. actually this is the build i want to build atm. it will be my first PC build, it won be purchased all at once, some things ill buy down the road like the SSDs, but when its all said and done, this is what it will be.

Case - NZXT Switch 810

CPU - Intel i5-2500k

Mobo - ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3

GPU - MSI Twin Frozr III 560 Ti 448 Core

PSU - Corsair AX850W

RAM (x2) - G.Skill 8gb DDR3 (1333)

HDD - Western Digital Caviar Black 1.5TB

SSD (boot) - OCZ Vertex 3 60gb

SSD (cache) - OCZ Vertex 3 60gb

DVD Drive - Light-On DVD Burner

Monitor - ASUS 23" LED LCD Widescreen 2ms

Keyboard - Corsair K90

Mouse - Logitech G500

Wireless NIC - Rosewill Wireless PCI NIC

Heatsink - Corsair H100

i would also like to get some of these in there as well as this because i cant have LEDs unless i can turn them off easily. and i might mix some of these as well, just so not every fan i have is an LED

however some things are subject to change, i wont be building this for months. so by then Intel Ivy Bridge should be out, with the new Z77 chipset as well as possibly nVidia 600 series. so any and all of those three things could replace their respective pieces in my build, depending on price and performance.

My dream build... XD where do I start?!

I must note FMod has a point about software limitations...

But, reality aside my dream rig:

ASUS KGPE-D16 Motherboard

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8 individual purchases, Ram (for a total of 128 GBs of RAM)

Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEXHard Drives; two in RAID

AMD Opteron 6174 Magny-Cours Two and overclocked to 5 GHZ each (talk about zero CPU bottlenecking...)

ENERMAX FULMO GT ECA1092AG-BL Case

EVGA 015-P3-1580-AR GeForce GTX 580 3 Video Cards in a tri-sli with liquid coolers

Crucial M4 CT128M4SSD2CCA Two SSD's also in RAID

ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 Sound Card

CORSAIR Professional Series Gold AX1200 Two Power Supplies

LITE-ON Blu-Ray Burner

Noctua CPU Cooler The only reason these (there are two) are not liquid coolers is because I didn't find a liquid cooler that supported the G34 Socket

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit

Cost: ???? I didn't feel like adding it up

In reality, I don't even know if half these parts are compatible with one another or, I just slapped it together in ten minutes just for the fun of it!
