Internal Walls

I concur, Jim-n-Conrad,

awesome idea and request.

the more parts packs for

nX! combinatorics, the better hehe.

I think there was a mod-project and community resource project

which was looking to add walls that'd go well as part packs with the existing other types.

Snap-n-build had a lot of interior walls which matched very nicely,

though those are since unlisted etc.

there was also "better immersion - clothes lines" and "rugs bazaar/Rug Curtains" as an interior wall.

an upcoming v3 of that latter one,

will have a container which will display on the 'clothes line', an animation based on the attire,

so as it actually looks like what you put in the container too.

would you want those to snap to exterior boundaries, or only loosely snap to the floor piece?

they'd be perfect in 1/2 wall length and 1/4 wall length placeable pieces too.

having some with a window-sill or 'half-wall' too would be great.

I'm amazed at the awesomeness of modders,

and the cool settlements they can make and share!

there's then glass panels, some in 'recycled beer bottle/nuka cola bottle', some frosted opaque, others clean sheer etc.

interior wall with soft-snap to bottom foundation piece would be excellent.

and 'liquid metal doors' - so, by extension, perhaps we could make animated liquid metal walls etc.

think "meet the Robinsons' style of non-newtonian, variable geometry building techniques. now, that's the institute hehe.

variable geometry 'animated' walls would be great.

there's also "regionalized architecture - different styles"

such as Aztalano, Azteca, Inca, Mayan, Bhutanese, Tibetan, Irish brick, Thai, soon to be african and european found-walls etc.

as well as Singaporean, Japanese and Chinese (the Shi style) and turkish, indian etc...

and Native American postwar tribes etc.

these are awesome, and I would very much support more interior walls in these styles.

these make the world feel so much more lived-in and real hehe.

We already have also the "rice-paper japanese style dojo interiors" - the surface animation is keyed to the environment,

allowing for the collision to get and set a damaged state. that's right,

you can do a 'Homer Simpson", and walk through the rice-paper walls hehe.

so, more destructible or deformable terrain and variable geometry stuff would be very awesome to see.

being able to blast through walls in settlements will make me more hesitant to use VATS,

for fear of hitting bystanders hehe.

there's also apparently upcoming

"automobile Americana style vehicle-furniture"

so, why not vehicle themed walls with built-in storage, or with windshield wiper windows and louver style cardoor windows.

they'd go great at raider themed settlements,

especially with the "tenderizer bus" which serves as a gate-guillotine portcullis.

----

PS

Holographic 'ghost walls' would be great too,

perfect for memorials and flashbacks.

not to mention, partially hologram, for 'touchscreen displays"

or, as distractions from holographic disguised entrances etc.

(that 'damaged malfunction/fritz look")

It will make my Memory Den Virtual Holodeck settlement much more Tron-like hehe.

if I capture stick-people from B2-D-B2's 2d-3D sketchbook land,

or Theta-Tan's from the teleport realm,

I can put them in a holographic jail in the holodeck hehe

I'll use ruadhan2300s site-to-site teleporter or the TARDIS mod to abduc--- I mean, relocate,

these enemies to the virtual holodeck.

it's a win-win, they're no longer harassing wastelanders,

and the arena goes on.

I hope there's some ideas there,

and that we see some modders collab on something like this in the not-to-distant future hehe.

@mighty zog

indeed, thematic and practical has a lot of dividers and 'concertinas'

as well as cubicles, and rug/curtain walls.

that's a good one, it's got a lot of random sample stuff all in one hehe.

im looking forward to the next update to Thematic and Practical too,

they've made a lot of advances for 'hologram'/'tron stuff'

perfect for decorating you memory lounger virtual settlement hehe.

One thing you can try is to map out what rooms with interior walls you want ahead of time and lay the floor. Then attach the wall and then continue to lay more floor. That is what I do.

Sometimes you will need 2 snap points to help make the pieces snap into place. This can require you to put in floors or walls in places where they do not belong but once you get the correct piece in place you just highlight and store the extra pieces you needed to put down to make the connection.

This can be tidious, and use up some extra materials, but I have always been able to get it to work and I build a lot of "interior" rooms with vanilla assets on a regular basis. Give this a try and see if that works for you.
