vorton2
Hi there folks, My favorite mods for previous Fallout games and Elder Scrolls games have always been the mods that opened up cities to the world space making it so there was no loading screens when going into a city or town. Mods like Open Cities Skyrim, The Strip Open, and New Vegas Uncut - Freeside Open. The only areas I can see this really working for would be Goodneighbor and Diamond city but It would still be nice. If a mod like this already exist please point me in the right direction but I have so far been unable to locate such mods. Thanks :)
damanding
The difference is that earlier games didn't have nearly as much content (meshes, textures, and actors) in the cities and once the games got a bit older, more people had machines capable of handling the load. Given the way that Fallout 4 differs from all previous games in terms of how it handles performance issues *and* the cities you mentioned, as well as their surrounding areas are much more densely populated with meshes, textures and actors than in previous games...I don't think most people's computers could handle such a mod. In a couple years maybe that'll change. Even high end machines have performance hits as it is in downtown areas. That's why Goodneighbor and Diamond City are separated worldspaces. montky
thanks for that damanding,I was about to link to your awesome Optimization in FO4 thread as an explainer primer, though you've already appeared in person hehe. ---a couple do exist, or are near to completion.Any Door to Any Where, animated elevators, and some community resource new lands. these'll help you in crafting 'seamless' transitions to areas, and reduce the 'loading menu',particularly in high density areas of interior -> exterior transitions etc. a number of projects are looking into the pre-batch of making something like that possible...modders or the game producer side, would need a supercomputer to make doing that in realistic spans plausible.a lot of bitcoin speculators and AGI folks happen to mod too,not to mention myriad FO4VR players out there,so it's not so silly. that kind of stuff would be an excellent 'term paper'/'dissertation project'. you'd need to sort out precombines, and account for modsters that have used place anywhere to make settlements everywhere hehe. stuff like the UnderBoston, and some implementations of "any door to any where'not to mention new lands stuff likethe Memory Den Virtual Holodeck parasettlement etc, they are looking at having bound cameras to the doorportal and stuff like that,as are the 'mirror projects' for better reflective surfaces.this lets you see beyond the cell load limit, and do some neat stuff,at the cost of not having line of sight to any nX! combinatorics of a player settlement... and, there's already tricky stuff likeelevators as a 'disguised loading screen',which play animations on decals on the interior surface etc...there's some ways to speed up load times when going from interior to exterior cells.it feels seamless, even though you're in a box waiting for the load to finish. the best example of that, is the TARDIS project, which allows you to have that cheshire box, and be able to see into the dashboard which is bigger on the inside...it's a mobile settlement too...you can't have the settlement part be accessible to the entry doorportal though - as that's all pre-batched. The Boston CBD will be tricky for the forseeable future though.some folks are looking at just overriding/altering those cells.you'll find a lot of folks dabbling in that, at the FO4 Optimization thread here;https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/5522717-fallout-4-optimization-and-performance-systems-explained/
TheDungeonDweller
Yeah, I'm sure Arthmoor will not attempt them because of the whole precombined mesh system. Opening Diamond City would probably break the entire worldspace XD.
MightyZ0G
I'd hate to imagine the drop in frame rate if my rig tried to load Diamond City and the surrounding area at the same time.
