Oblivion crashing

One more question, how do I launch it as OBSE_Launcher.exe rather than oblivion.exe?

You can make a copy and place it at desktop assuring it being copied as shortcut. Or an yet better idea you can download another utility named "The OBSE Launcher" since it will place together several nice features. It can launch Oblivion with and without OBSE, the Construction Set with and without OBSE, other utilities as OBMM and "Character Manager" (maybe you want look at this one too). It will allow you to activate or deactivate ESPs to testing purposes (to modify order OBMM yet is a must have), and at one only place.

All you will need is inform the paths of the related utilities, but this is simple navigating toward it, very userfriendly.

Hopefully my last problem, I downloaded OBSE launcher, and OBSE is downloaded in C:/PRogram Files/Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion, but whenever I try to open Ob with OBSE it says

"OB Dir Error:

Please check the Oblivion Directory path in the options screen is correct and you have OBSE installed!" Didn't I install OBSE correctly? My Directory is C:/Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion/ . Is something not in the right path?

EDIT: It is all fine. I fixed it. Thanks Nosisab!

It is not working. It loads with OBSE up to the loading screen for a new game, and crashes. I am at my wits end here.

This is my load order if it would be useful.

Your Oblivion.ini maybe is the problem. Copy the Oblivion_Defaults.ini from your oblivion path to C:\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion ... rename the Oblivion.ini there to Oblivion.inibak and so rename the copied one to Oblivion.ini

try the game again.

Knights of the nine is reported sometimes as troublesome, so experiment changing its load order if the new Oblivion.ini is not enough to solve the issue. You can try to place Frostcrag more toward the end of the load order (mainly if it is the Frostcrag reborn)

Certify you are patched to 1.2.0416, this is very important

I am sure I am 1.2.0416. Would it be better to just totally take off Kotn? I'll do the ini thing. Just one question about that though. Do I move the ini to Mygames/Oblivion and rename THAT file, or do I rename another file? At the risk of sounding like a noob, where exactly are the ini files? I looked in C:/My games/Oblivion, but I can't find them.

hmm, if you couldn't find the C:\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Oblivion.ini there is something very strange in you setup

Anyway, in The Oblivion folder there is an Oblivion_Defaults.ini that is a template to the ini file it use when working (actually is the one from where the Oblivion.ini is built at first time). This is the one you can copy into C:\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion replacing the Oblivion.ini already there, or if it is not present (?) to create a new one. So you rename this copy of Oblivion_Defaults.ini to Oblivion.ini ... "At" C:\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion folder.

If this don't work, so is better you reinstall all the game, I suggest you following the instructions from this great tutorial about a safe and good reinstall from bben46 (and remember the kudos for him :) )

it's a last resource but is one that if don't works you will need to post the specs of your machine.

I got it to work by reinstalling everything. However, I now have another problem. I downloaded many mods (I'm not on my own computer now so I don't have OBMM to check), including thieves arsenal, deadly reflex, mighty magick, and others. It works fine, but I can't level up. I get to the leveling screen, with the stats and stuff, but when I click exit, it crashes. I'll have my load order up tomorrow.
