So I've played this game quiet a bit and I have never run into a bug like this.

First time I approached Techatticup Mine the Legion was not hostile to me despite being Vilified. At the time I didn't think much of it since I checked the wiki page for that area and it noted that as a bug (legion sometimes will not attack even while being Vilified). Anyhow, quickly I saw that this issue spread to the entire game and no wandering Legion groups attacked me at all.

I used the console command

Setenemy 0001b2a4 000ee68a 0 0

To get them to attack me and I just figured that was the end of the issue.

However, upon reaching the point where you obtain the Mark of Caesar the legion is still attacking me on sight. I simply wanted to explore the next section of the game like I have in the past without being attacked by The Legion while I explored their camp.

I could simply use Setenemy 0001b2a4 000ee68a 0 0 to make them friendly, but then they are friendly no matter what I do.

I tried resetting my reputation with them and it does not affect anything. They will either attack me on sight or only fight back if I attack them (depending on what I have setenemy to).

Anyhow, am I just screwed this playthrough?

Not a solution, but a suggestion. It is my suspicion that your current problem stems from changing the player faction relationship to the Legion faction instead of your character's reputation with the Legion. The game design does not appear to assume faction relations change easily. Player reputation with various factions however, does. Next time, try adjusting the rep instead. Also bear in mind whether the armor you are wearing might have any impact upon how your "enemies" view your rep.

Thanks for the suggestion.

You are probably right dubious.

Though I may have made the problem worse, I was already in possible game breaking bug territory since without any console tinkering the legion was not attack me even though I was vilified. So obviously at that point there was an issue.

Just exploit it when they don't attack you and pick pocket everybody.

Oh wait that might effect your faction standing with them ... :pirate:

So I restarted my game is hopes that this was just a nasty bug that glitched out my game. I'm getting the same exact thing again. I just want to check, what exactly is normal vilified behavior for Legion?

I have played this game quiet a bit in the past and this is what I'm use to...

Patrols will attack me on sight.

The odd Legion hide-out will attack me on sight.

Cottonwood Cove is safe unless I start attacking.

After gaining the Mark of Caesar the fort and in general the legion are neutral.

According to "The Vault" wiki, you should be seeing legionary assassin squads as well as legionaries attacking on sight. Various quests and their results are listed there as well.

You might want to post your "load order" so we can see if you have a mod that is affecting this.

Kept meaning to post it. Only Faction changes are in YUP and Assassin mod. Neither seems to be conflicting or affecting reputation.]

Man, I don't even know what to believe anymore. I just tested this on vanilla with only NVSE (since I was too lazy to move the files). The behavior was identical.

Can someone just take the time to test this for me?

New game. God mode and map marker console commands.

Kill a bunch of legion guys.

Wait 3 days.

Visit another legion area.

See if they are friendly or not.

I suppose I could have been using Boone around those areas were Legion are focused all these years.... but I swear I've visited with other companions and they still attacked on sight.

As for the behavior in vanilla with only NVSE: have you tried renaming your "Users" folder INI files and have the game rebuild them before testing?

Merely disabling plugins is not always enough to remove their influence. You really have to uninstall them. At least try that with the two you consider possible suspects. (They are the only ones that seem logical to me.)

With that many mods, you really should be using a "bash/merge patch" file. I note you have a "merged1.2.esp". If that IS a "merge patch" file, then you might want to revisit and update it. Or perhaps try building a "Bashed Patch" with "Wrye Flash". Please see the 'Third Rule: The Rule of One', 'Smaller Plugin Cap', and 'Merge Patch file' sections of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article.

If "merged1.2.esp" is a "merged plugin" file (to reduce the plugin count), you might want to review what it includes as well, just to be sure there aren't any surprises.

Thanks for the advice.

I'm using Mod Organizer so the .exe via steam is not touching the stuff under my documents at all. I have not added anything to the data folder beyond NVSE.

The merged patch is just created with FNVE. Just fixes some level list and weapon list entries. I haven't really had a reason to mess with Wrye... my count isn't anywhere near the limit. I'll give it a shot at some point...
