Im starting to wonder.

Right so on the Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Oblivion nexus's there always seem to be a near absurd amount of clothing and outfit mods. Ranging in a very very wide variety of styles however for Skyrim nexus all clothing mods seem to fit into one of a few categories:

Archmage reskin

Psijic Reskin

Nocturnal robe reskin

Or something extremely skimpy and vulgar.

When I first thought of getting myself a cool modded non-armor outfit for my new character I thought the biggest challenge would be sifting through an overflow of content like it was on the other sites. Now it seems like the biggest thing in my way is the lack of good unique content.

And really all over the nexus there seems to be so very little content for Skyrim. Everyone seems to be working on environmental beauty or fixing problems in the game and so few people working on expanding the game. I mean with New Vegas just look at how much content poured into the Nexus after an equal amount of time with the CK out.

I ask you all. Why?

Yeah the CK hasn't been out long. Before the ck replacers were the easiest to do and therefore there are tons of them. There are certainly a few good armor and weapon mods and actually a few good clothing mods.

It will take some time. I mean the other games you listed have been out a lot longer than Skyrim so it kind of goes without saying that they will have more mods as well as higher quality mods. I never played New Vegas so I cannot say how many mods were out at what point. I really don't think there could possibly have been that many mods after just under a month with the CK (but perhaps there were). Patience.

We already had massive complete game overhauls by then for NV >_>

That's pretty impressive. Was the creation kit, or construction set or whatever the same for FO3 and NV? I don't mod so I don't know for sure but I hear the Skyrim CK is a little buggy and has been changed from previous titles so perhaps modders are having to get used to it which increases the time to produce mods.

There's definitely a learning curve involved when working with the CK, even for users of the CS/GECK. A number of mechanics have been changed, and there's a whole new scripting language to learn. Thankfully, Papyrus isn't that complicated, but the info on its many functions (I use the word in the general sense, not in the scripting sense) is pretty sparse.

The bugs and omissions are a whole other ball game. Most notable is the navmesh bug (my work hasn't involved any new cells, so I don't know much about that one). Importing .wav or .xwm files recorded using external programs is a major hassle, since Beth didn't see fit to give us an import feature for dialogue audio. I've also run into random CTDs, as well as a consistent CTD which occurs when an NPC is given a dialogue response of 12 lines or longer. I'm sure there are countless other issues that I have yet to encounter, so this is far from an exhaustive list.

Bigger and better mods are definitely coming, but working around these issues takes time. Give it another a month or two, at least.
