Prenihility
I was told once when playing Fallout 3 a long time ago; saving into a new slot each time you save is the way it should be done. Is this the same for Oblivion. I dont want to play another 23 hours and crash again. This was painful. And Oblivion's leveling system makes it exponentially more painful. How do you prevent save game corruption? Total BS...
MegaJohnny
I think so, yeah. Have a look at Fast Hotkeys, which can make new saves for you in one key press. With that, it's really no more trouble than actually using quicksaves.
olnorton
I've been using simple saves for a while now and have had no problems. http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/47152/?

Is there any SURE way of preventing corruption through some sort of best practice, without the use of mods? Relying on a mod to safely save your game. That speaks volumes about how broken the game is.
TheMastersSon
The answer to your first question is definitely yes. Never overwrite your saves. Also, if you ever have to reload a game while playing, always back out to Oblivion's main menu first -- before reloading. Otherwise some game variables and pointers etc are not properly reset and it can easily result in savegame corruption.

I was hoping to use a certain glitch to level back up to level 10 quickly. I made i got all +5s... Vid below of what i'm talking about. So if i do this, it could corrupt my save? Ugh... Great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxbaYNJngMs
