it also happens elsewhere, like near settlements

If you are ctd-ing near settlements then this is most likely a conflict with background scripts from within the settlement construction system. Just pick mods from that loooooooooooooooong list which 'might' have background scripts that would conflict with settlements and deactivate them in batches of 2-3 until you stop having frequent crashes. Some of the stuff you want to test, but are not limited to:

I honestly can't tell you what your specific mod conflict there is and telling you how to specifically fix a single mod on that list would require that I download and install the entire thing, and I'm frankly not going to do that. Just start activating and deactivating mods which have background scripts for settlements until you find the culprit.

thanks, i'm not willing to lose everything from most of those but i'll stop bubbleturrets since it doesn't work anyway

WOTC is a heavy mod and when I see your list with all those mods about Vertibirds, most likely they are causing your CTD in combination with WOTC and this mod should be on the top of every single mod related to NPC's like Coursecrusher and Gunners overhaul.

ok i'll move it around

 

lowering wotc settings particularly respawn rate has made flying over far harbor less risky, but it's still undoable in boston area
