Step by step guide for dual swords on back and belt-fastened quivers

I strongly advise non-ModOrganizer users to take a look at step 5 before trying this, without the separated folder system of MO.. this might be a bit cumbersome.

This step by step guide is obviously not set in stone, you can choose the options you want. I merely provided my choices to have a setup that works nicely together.

1. Install DSpSoB 1 0 Dawnguard

  • Download Bethesda Archive Extractor and extract the file to its own folder
  • Open Bethesda Archive Extractor and open the "DSpSoB.bsa" file
  • Extract the "DSpSoB.bsa" file to a new folder
  • Download SSE NIF Optimizer and extract the file to its own folder
  • Open SSE NIF Optimizer and browse to the folder where you extracted the "DSpSoB.bsa" file -> Press Optimize
  • Go to ..\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Tools\Archive and open Archive.exe
  • At the bottom of the archiver window, doublecheck "Recurse Directories" is checked
  • Right Above that, the option "Root Dir"... Point that to the folder where you extracted the "DSpSoB.bsa" file
  • On top of the Archiver window, select "Edit" -> "Add Directory"... Point that to the folder where you extracted the "DSpSoB.bsa" file
  • On top of the Archiver window, select "Edit" -> "Check All Items"
  • On top of the Archiver window, select "File" -> "Save"
  • A message box will pop up with the message "There is currently no archive type selected. Do you wish to save anyway?"... Choose yes
  • Browse to the location of the old "DSpSoB.bsa" file and select it to overwrite
  • A message box will pop up asking if you're sure you want to overwrite.. Choose yes (the old file will be backed up automaticly)

2. Install XP32 Maximum Skeleton Special Extended

  • Select skeleton rig map (BBP)
  • Select default 1st person skeleton
  • Select belt-fastened quivers
  • Select back-hip daggers
  • Select swords on back

3. Install Immersive Animations

  • Select main module
  • Select sneaking
  • Select strafe
  • Select normal sprint
  • Select greatsword sprint
  • Select dual sword wield -- swords on back
  • Select dual axe wield
  • Select dual dagger wield
  • Select dual mace wield
  • Select dual wield combo
  • Select single sword or dagger on back
  • Select rogue stab
  • Select female walk fix
  • Select leaping cross slash

4. Install Pretty Combat Animations

  • Select Style 01 for sneak style option
  • Select sneak turn
  • Selelct Style 01 for karate style option
  • Select crossbow animations
  • Select ranger option
  • Select the ranger_belt-fastened quiver option
  • DO NOT select either of the origin sneak options
  • Select warrior for the greatsword style option
  • Select warrior for the battleaxe and warhammer style option
  • Select both the 2hm block and sprint option
  • Select weapon master for 1 handed melee and dual wield style option
  • Select weaponmaster_back_sheath_dual wield style for the extra equip unequip style for custom skeleton
  • Select weaponmaster_dagger_back_sheath_dual wield style for the dagger extra equip style for custom skeleton

5a. Update the Pretty Combat Animations for Skyrim SE for ModOrganizer users

  • Go to ..\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Tools\HavokBehaviorPostProcess and copy "HavokBehaviorPostProcess.exe"
  • Go to where ModOrganizer installed Pretty Combat Animations and paste the "HavokBehaviorPostProcess.exe" in that folder
  • Download converttoskyrimSE , extract it and copy the "converttoskyrimSE.bat" in the same folder as "HavokBehaviorPostProcess.exe"
  • Run the "converttoskyrimSE.bat" file and it will update all the animations inside the Pretty Combat Animations folder

5b. Update the Pretty Combat Animations for Skyrim SE without ModOrganizer

  • Since I never used other mod managers, its kinda hard to give a step by step guide on how to do this.
  • I will give a list of all the files generated by Pretty Combat Animations, at least you guys can retrieve them and update them by copying them all to a new folder and update them like that
  • Files added to ..\meshes\actors\character\animations
  • Files added to ..\meshes\actors\character\animations\dlc01
  • Files added to ..\meshes\actors\character\animations\female
  • Copy all these files to a new folder
  • Go to ..\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Tools\HavokBehaviorPostProcess and copy "HavokBehaviorPostProcess.exe"
  • Go to where you copied all the files added by Pretty Combat Animations and paste the "HavokBehaviorPostProcess.exe" in that folder
  • Download converttoskyrimSE , extract it and copy the "converttoskyrimSE.bat" in the same folder as "HavokBehaviorPostProcess.exe"
  • Run the "converttoskyrimSE.bat" file and it will update all the animations inside
  • Copy and paste the updated animations into your game/mod folder, overwriting the old ones

6. Install 360 Walk and Run Plus

  • Select both recommended options for male animations
  • Select both recommended options for female animations + BBP On
  • Select the run backward speed fix patch
  • Select 360 swimming

EDIT : Added the SSE NIF Optimizer steps

EDIT2 : Changed the order of step 1 and 2, to avoid overwrite issues with skeleton files

ive done this step by step and all i can get is swords on my side. im not sure if im not doing a step correctly. im using NMM not MO. also step 2 kinda confused me as if i had to repack the files once i finished messing with the bsa files. i repacked them and renamed them then zipped them and installed using nexus like any other mod download. i wasnt sure what all to do with the files once they were finished. ive also tried this with the additional file besides the dawnguard one. tried them both together and seperatly. ive done a fresh start and install with only these files to see if i can get it to work. i managed to get the dual swords on back one time but that was before i had the animations worked out but guess it was a fluke accident i cant seem to figure out how i did it. i can get the animations to pull them from my back now but cant get the swords on my back. i can get 1 on my back with the animation to pull them both out. been trying to figure this out for a week or so and just cant nail it. kinda new to skyrim and modding. hope i dont irritate anyone with all this and was specific enough for any help. and thanks ahead of time if your able to help .

VICTORY LOL. ok your step by step was dead on minus one step for NMM users. you have to install the DSpSoB Weapons on Back optional file and place in the order after step 2. so like step 2.1 . I had everything done the way you did it with fixing files for the animations and bsa. No need to redo them once they are done i simply used the NMM option with the right click to Reinstall Mod in the order you had them plus placing weapons on back after the dawnguard file and chose the options you did in the same order and it magically worked. thank you again for the step by step.

Sorry for not replying earlier to your question, I haven't visited the forum for quite some time. I'm pretty sure the problem will have been the dawnguard skeleton overwriting the XP32 Maximum skeleton, wich should be impossible because loose files have priority over files packed in a .bsa file. If anyone experiences the same problem, installing dawnguard file first and the XP32 maximum skeleton second should eliminate this issue too. In the end, I'm glad you managed to get it working without any help. Might have taken a bit longer, but fixing something yourself is much more rewarding.

PS: changed the order of step 1 and 2 to avoid this issue completely

I'm trying to understand where or what we're supposed to do with the dspsob.bsa file once archived from step 1.

As for step 5b I'm completely lost here. I have those mods mentioned above (xp32, immersive animation, pretty combat animation etc...) but there is no such file Havokbehavior file in the directory.

Can someone decipher these cryptic "step by step" instruction please. Thanks

p.s. Deciphered and it worked great! Thanks for the step by step instruction.
