Fallout 4 Beginning tips

Greetings!

I am new here but not new to the Fallout 4 game. The furthest I have gotten in the game was after you get cait but before you do her loyalty quest. Does anyone have any tips or guides as I am going to do a brand new fresh playthrough. Some mistakes I made are

1. Not repairing my Power armor

2. Rushing through the main questline without venturing off the beaten path

3. Not modding weapons

4. Not giving my companions better gear or weapons

5. Not taking my time to enjoy the side quests

to those that have played can you offer any tips or guides or a list of things to do in the beginning? My issue is having to go up against strong monsters and gouls and not having the level needed to beat them.... or also rushing through and not fighting battles to gain xp, but I go through the area and avoid a fight. lol

Hi

Use a mod that make settlers killable. That makes settlement building challenging & defence building necessary.

Use a mod that adds monsters & NPCs. With six or more flying bugs you will be running for your life.

Use a mod that adds power armor to factions so you can snipe their power cores & get the armour.

1. Kill every animal you encounter and cook the meat for extra XP.

2. Choose your clothes carefully for those which give you more Charisma, such as "Fashionable Glasses" which look stupid but are +1 Charisma. Use Chems like Grape Mentats which increase your Charisma.

3. Install FallCompleteLauncher which will tell you where all Bobbleheads and Magazines are located so you never miss them.

4. Get the Marksman's .50 Sniper Rifle from Arturo in Diamond City as early as possible.

5. Set up plenty of water purifiers in Sanctuary and sell the excess water in Diamond City.

6. Choose one main base and concentrate your facilities there (I use the Castle)

7. Leave the main quest where you access the Institute till late in the game - do the DLC's before this.

8. When setting up a settlement stick to a sensible number of settlers, say 10, except at your main base. Don't forget to turn the radio beacon off.

9. When you leave power armor unattended, take the fusion core out or it will be stolen.

Try to find automatic weapons with legendary cold effect. The cold effect stuns enemies on critical hits. Can save you and teammates in heavy traffic. Also pick up several settlement mods and have fun with those for awhile. Building things gives u lots of experience. I usually take the main quest up to the point before you have to start choosing factions and just leave it there to build settlements and explore.

Tips (Play It Straight)

  • Milk experience by hording jet, buffout, and other chems so that you can craft more powerful stuff later on for xp. You'll easily get 2-3 levels from crafting chems together and a lot of cash from selling stuff like Psycho-Jet.
  • Horde Combat Armor and Laser Weapons so that you can do upgrades for arming your settlers later on. You'll bank huge amounts of xp upgrading guns and armor for your settlers.
  • Invest your perk points heavily into crafting early on. Specifically, invest into Armorer, Scrapper, and Science. These open up avenues for massive amounts of xp that you can legit earn just by playing the game. Also, you can upgrade your otherwise crap weapons into some serious damage dealing hardware to get a boost against leveled enemies.
  • Combat Rifle, with .308; get this as soon as possible because it melts enemies. Also get a Combat Shotgun with an Advanced Receiver. The damage bonuses make these two guns a must have if you want to grind early on for xp.

Tips (Cheat Like A Bastard)

  • player.additem 000e27bc 1 (Here is the Gatling Laser code. You are welcome.)
  • Sooo... yeah... get Science ranked up high and max out the upgrades on the Gatling Laser. Do that, and most stuff won't even bother you.
  • Gunners and Supermutants are your friends... because they drop good leveled loot, ammo, and are perfect to farm for xp. Avoid killing raiders. They aren't worth your time, energy, or ammo because they give crap leveled xp and loot.

- try to fight with enemies like special forces soldier, no matter they missing 9/10, imagine they hitting u hard )

- try to make advanced economy with shops in settlements, no matter u'l get thousands caps without it, just throw in some river )

- try to build much rocket turrets in all ur settlements as u can, no matter there no attacks and ur settlers are immortal. stay near turrets and protect )

- try to make a lot of better mods to ur weapon armor, no matter u can fights naked and kill everyone with finger. fallout 4 guns are cool for screenshots )

- try to build considered perk-tree to ur hero. no matter can play without it, but there are perks, so, they are effective )

- also make a lot of youtubes of ur gameplay, to help others to play this hard game )

fallout 4 is a game, yes?)

Anyone know how I can get the Automatic Gatling laser? I'm playing on PS4 BTW :ninja: :ninja: :ninja:

It's a leveled weapon. You won't probably see one until you reach level 20. After that check Teagan on the Prydwen or Ronnie Shaw at the Minutemen Castle. BOS patrols sometimes carry them as well. If you want info on stuff Wiki is your friend.

You also get offered a Gatling Laser in the shop at Fusion City though I don't know whether that is dependent on level. The Plasma Gatling in a really sweet mod, craftable subject to what perks you have.
