Hmm.

1. Nora - custom companion, makes sense to kick ass in the commonwealth with your wife.

2. Nick Valentine. Come on. With a particular mod, you can equip Nick in full armor, and outfit him with a better weapon, and he is practically a Terminator.

3. Automatron followers you can build. Turning Codsworth into a Heavy Sentry Bot with explosive minigun arms with his cheery attitude is baller status.

Actually, it seems to me that even in vanilla, you can get Nick to wear Power Armor and use other weapons. What you can NOT do is get him to ditch his trench coat for a better skin suit and layered armor.

I kinda hate all these companions I spend most of my time trying to get their perks and plan my whole playthroughs around them. Strong is the worst since he does like opening things just not locked things and so I have to just go around sacking all the usual enemy faction hangouts and building MOAR settlements with him until I get his perk then send him home with his unfinished by beth quest back to trinity tower.

Cait is a nutjob that wasted her parents who were also both nutjobs. She kinda looks like she might kill me in my sleep and so after curing her and getting her perk I leave her at forever alone lighthouse then move on to the next companion. I can't understand a dam thing curie is saying I just can't she jumbles it all up. Piper has that lewinsky thing going on with her face which is probably why she has such a great gift of gab perk hehe but she has a place in diamond city to live and take care of her sister so I just don't bother with her romantic suggestions. Mcreepy creeps me out seriously his dialogue was written for a female player in mind it is so obvious but they could have given him some normal lines for male players instead of shoving that romance option on there eewww! Danse is buzz lightyear he even almost sounds like him I wouldn't be surprised if the voice over was the same person. Presto gravey is so dam annoying but I usually manage to drag him all the way down to quincy and help me get revenge on the gunners at some point. I do open season at nuka world so I just have to kill gage and I don't play nice with raiders anyway. It would be nice if we could convert ada to some kind of cyborg body from robot like take the ashara cyborg outfit and convert it to robot parts just call them cyborg parts and assign human animations to them so when you have her using all cyborg parts there is some more friendly dialogue for her and once you started that dialogue you can't change her parts back to anything else so she stays that way.

The whole story of this game kinda sucks I mean they send you on a burning crusade of revenge across the commonwealth to find your kid and avenge your spouse but want you to just forget all that about quarter of the way through and get sexy with some npc you met somewhere wth? For the player it wasn't 210 years it was a few minutes ago to see their spouse blown away by that piece of crap kellogg and their baby taken away. I usually play with that in mind and don't bother with this romance stuff. Gonna have to check out that heather mod and see how it goes.

Jsut started my third playthrough, so far I have Dogmeat (as a Human Female) and Ada, also as a female. Soon I will go and pick up Cait, then later Curie and that will do for me. Last time, I took Piper to Sanctuary, put her into a skimpy outfit and put her behind a bar, so I didn't have to listen to her.

MacCready - Second to none when it comes to banter, either in sidequest or locational dialogue. He's the wingman character. For comparison sake, compare his USS constitution dialogue with the rest of the companions. He's always the vibrant one in most of those kinds of quest while others tend to be by the numbers with their responses and reactions. He also roasts people a lot I remember him saying to Dr. Carrington ''Better question is there anyone who likes you'', to Deacon he says ''still pretending to be anyone but yourself''. I once started a fight with Ronnie Shaw, and rather than critcize me MacCready was down to throw them hands and called her grandma lol. I mean even if you boink the dude he has the best sex line out of them all lol. He also makes a lot of references to 80s/90s rock and movies. Don't ask me how he would even know these things since the world ended before those eras of American culture.

Also he gives me fusion cores. Only thing I don't like about him is his arc, they could have done much more with his arc than just ''save my son'', I would've prefered maybe taking down the gunners or something. Or atleast dwelving more into his history, maybe children of littlelamplight could have played a part in his story arc.

Piper - Probably has the second best banter in the game.

Nick - Most charismatic

Hancock - Same as above

Danse - Best arc in the game hands down

Cait - I love her development and she's my main squeeze.

Ada and Codsworth are probably my fave two bots.

Deacon - I kinda hate him because his dialogue is the most......out there......during combat he never shuts up. He's always making dramatic sounds and I just want a mute button for em at times.

I didn't really like Gage that much, they basically made him a combination of MacCready and Cait. More evil than MacCready, but not as soft as Cait. He's not that good unless you plan on just rp'ing a raider, because unlike the other companions he doesn't really offer much in the way of dialogue outside of Nuka world. You're not going to get the various locational and sidequest dialogue in the commonwealth from him that you do with the vanilla companions.

Heather Casdin. She swears when the situation warrants it, has sarcastic comments about lots of things and isn't overly clingy. Importantly she never makes negative comments when you pick up or drop jumk. These comments infuriate me and are the commonest reason why I dismiss companions. I also tried to get on with Nick for a while but reached some absurd dialogue where he "hated" something I did and I just had to get rid of him.

For me, it's Heather Casdin, Audrey and R4-04. The latter 2 are from the Tales of the Commonwealth mod - aside from top notch game commentary, their interaction with the player during some of the (superbly written) quests is so incredible it's almost hard to believe it's from a mod.
