kevkiev
2. Nick Valentine. Come on. With a particular mod, you can equip Nick in full armor, and outfit him with a better weapon, and he is practically a Terminator.Actually, it seems to me that even in vanilla, you can get Nick to wear Power Armor and use other weapons. What you can NOT do is get him to ditch his trench coat for a better skin suit and layered armor. There's a mod called "Fashionable Valentine" (I think it is) that makes his trench coat and fedora playable so you can add ballistic weave etc. to 'em. And even get him to wear other types of armour although, for me, Nick without his trench coat and fedora just isn't Nick. My opinion of Nick skyrocketed after having him along when I played the Far Harbour quests. Love it when NPCs interact with the storyline like he did. TheGadget1945
for me at this point... the best companion is anybody but deacon. i had my head explode when deacon shot me in the back of the head with a silenced .50 sniper rifle that i made for him. once was enough. i suppose i don't really have a specific preference... I had Deacon for a short while as a companion but my experience at Poseidon Reservoir was typical ; he talks and talks and talks about how badass he is then myself, my other companion and the BOS Scribe we are escorting go inside. We spend 5 minutes getting chewed by Feral Ghouls and the Scribe dies once. During all the mayhem Deacon is nowhere to be seen ! We stagger outside and he makes some flip remark, so I snap and try to dismiss him but I have apparently fallen into the trap of having cut short a convo earlier so he can't be dismissed. I try everything and eventually get sick and amuse myself by firing missiles at him, but he won't die."Never again".

jkruse05
Nora. Finding your missing wife and tackling the brave new world together just feels right. Was pretty lame in the base game that you could edit your spouse, but only saw them in the first 20 min or so.
Moraelin
Until she flips out and hangs a beheaded raider upside down over the entrance to Pickman's Gallery. Ok, so it was a physics brainfart, but I swear it happened. Made me worry, it did. I mean, hanging your own exhibits at someone else's gallery is a bit rude if you don't ask first. LucidLady
It's not even a question. The very best companion is Hancock. At least, he's my favorite... He has the most interesting comments.About enemies. About locations. About events. About EVERYTHING. I swear he has the largest number of lines of dialogue out of all the companions. And like I said, his dialogue is the most genuinely interesting and cute on top of that. Also, he himself is such a cutie. Hancock's a doll, I wouldn't have him any other way.And his voice is like audio porn. I really love how he simply loves your character. I may be bias, but I swear he loves the SS more than any of the other romance companions does. He thinks the absolute world of the SS and it wouldn't surprise me if he kills himself after your character's death. Also, he is the only companion that doesn't freak out like you've tainted their virgin ears each time you flirt with him. (well, him and Gage now) That's just refreshing. You have to read in between the lines with Hancock unfortunately. Unlike the other romance companions, he doesn't bash you over the head with ham fisted, flowery romantic lines. So i'm certain alot of people take him as less serious, or more joking when they romance him. Other than Hancock though, I guess my next favorite is Cait.I simply relate alot to Cait. I relate plenty to Hancock too, but moreso with Cait. That obviously doesn't mean I necessarily LIKE Cait more.I just see where she's coming from. I appreciate her angle.I wish she had more interesting, more plentiful, dialogue. But I guess they can't all be Hancock. I also wish we agreed more. She simply dislikes too many of my natural inclinations. Which is so the opposite of Hancock, btw. I find Hancock's the easiest to gel with, without even trying. The thing about Cait is, she puts on a big Tough front. But she really just wants someone to wrap her up and say everything's gonna be alright. Pay attention when romancing her - she comes to you fragile and in a panic, and if you choose the romantic options, it's just you trying to calm her and put her at ease. She's been through some s#*!. Her entire life. I can relate.

Her entire life. I can relate. That's an interesting way of looking at Cait. She does come across as some fragile little thing when you romance her. But make no mistake, that girl is a predator! She plays the injured dove to get you to fall for her. She didn't survive fighting in a cage among a bunch of cut-throat raiders without learning everything she needed to not only survive but to take full advantage of saps who make the mistake of fully trusting her. Just my humble opinion there. :D
tesoblivor
Dogmeat, if I have to pick. Why? He doesn't do stuff like stand up in the middle of Gunners Plaza and give a freaking speech, which I'm sure the gunners find informative and entertaining but .... Having said that I am wandering around with Curie at the moment, along with the mods Deeper thoughts and Platinum Curie. I've learned to use her as bait in Gunners Plaza .... slapdashbr
Here is a list of companions I want to know who is best.... Don't worry about spoilers because I have played the game before just haven't beat it... but I did my research into all the possible endings of Fallout 4 Cait - One of my favs when you get herPreston - I never go anywhere with him.Piper - I fell in love with her in Diamond City and kept her around a lot... till I met caitCodsworth - Never use himDogmeat - Really don't use him much eitherMacCready - hated him in Fallout 3 and don't really like him now. I know I missed some... there is the Robot you meet and the robot can get a body, the synth companion, etc... I fell for piper because I think she is a hot tamale.... So I have a relationship with her AND cait... I take cait around with me the most. so my fav is Cait or piper I am not a Preston hater like a lot of the community seems to be, but he's not really my favorite. Also his default weapon sucks- it shouldn't, but because of the way companion AI works, he takes very few shots and misses most of them anyway. I really like Nick. MacCready and Curie have amusing comments a lot of the time. Deacon is alright although most of the missions I'd want to bring him on, I'm better off going solo for pure stealth. Again, AI needs some work. f*#@ Strong and X6. Strong is just annoying and bitchy, although at least he's good in combat. X6 is obnoxious and not even good. Coursers just don't live up to the hype in this game.
Moksha8088
My opinion of Nick skyrocketed after having him along when I played the Far Harbour quests. Love it when NPCs interact with the storyline like he did.I think Nick and the three companions of Tales from the Commonwealth are the only companions (besides Longfellow) to have Far Harbor dialogue. The Tales from the Commonwealth companions also have specific Nuka-World dialogue.
