Thor.
Hello there  yup the the title is correct, i am officially going the way of Radeon, and the Ultimate card known to man the radeon 3gb ddr5 7950.Mainly this model, i just wan't your opinion of the card before i make the purchase in 3 weeks     Note i don't have to worry about the shipping fees. Also comparing the wattage of this beast of a card to my gtx470's its a good 50Watt less, not to mention i have them in sli, thank goodness for my 1000watt modulating psu  i nearly didn't meat the minimum system requirements :ohdear: http://www.tigerdire...7008&CatId=7387newegg reviewhttp://www.newegg.ca...N82E16814125414 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jX1xzbGUWSo Also i don't think the 7970 is worth it concidering its not much of a difference, not to mention cheaper. Also i have another reason for this upgrade, i want better cooling and my gtx 470's are running a tad hot for my liking. Although i am getting amazing fps from them, its temps are around the 100c mark witch i think is a tad to hot. :turned: I was getting a whopping 60fps maxed out with dx11 and texture packs in Crysis 2, But after 10 minutes of gameplay afterburner read out went from 85c from my last table temp to 100c for some reason. thats without the bottleneck. This radeon is reported to have amazing temps around 65c on heavy load, witch is quite good. If anyone wanting to know my mobo, i have the sabertooth 990fx motherboard, so sli and crossfire isn't a problem, 3.0 pci slots. quad sli and crossfire support. hoofhearted4
so i dont get what your asking? obviously the card is good. obviously you know the card is good. youve read multiple different reviews. youve clearly though it out and why......just not sure what to answer that you dont already know. this is more of a thread letting us know your getting it, in which, congrats! i look forward to seeing some benchmarks with it compared to your old 470s, which are still good cards, esp in SLI. im planning on getting like a 660 or whatever when they come out. whenever on gods earth i can finally build my PC :wallbash: Edited March 1, 2012 by hoofhearted4
Thor.
I just want second Opinions from more people on the nexus thats all, personal experience with the card and so on. It could be from any HD radeon 7950, they seem to be quite similar, but this one stands out from the rest. Its a big decision to buy a new vid card, even from a experienced user like me. fms1
Even if your set on wanting that card, I would wait until Nvidia drops their new card (if it's not too long), just for the slight price drop, if any. But everybody KNOWS Nvidia always seems to do more with less (way better driver support). And I have ATI\AMD card XFX HD 6870, can run Crysis 2 without a stuter in the world, with DX 11 and High Res. Tex pack on ultra game settings on 1920x1080i (at least single player, have not played multiplayer), Crysis 2 just seems way more efficient than Skyrim. I don't know my temps on Crysis 2, but Skyrim maxes my cards performance (stock gpu and mem. clocks, but factory overclocked) and temps stay around 87c on very high, not ultra. And for Crysis 2 I don't know my FPS, but have look sensitivity maxed, in the most intense moments of the game (graphics wise) still not a stutter one. Thor.
I know it has better Driver support just having a switch for a change, I'm really Enjoying it so far. Certainly a lot cooler then my other 2 gtx470's witch ran at a temp around OMG 100c on load, with this card its running around 60 to 50c on load as advertised. Overclocking potential is good. Also i was looking around for the gtx580's and 90's and the Wattage minimum system requirements where to high for my liking, 600watts. Imagine putting that in sli with a 1000watt psu :teehee: , especially with other things like cpu and fans, plus overclocking. Meh to much of a expense for my liking. Also I have a Antec 900 series case  Edited April 3, 2012 by Thor.
Erik005
Have you seen the 7870 reviews? Maybe two 7870's in crossfire is also an option. In crossfire they are going to beat two 580's
Thor.
Yes i am planning on doing that in the near future, It beats 2 580's and then some. Edited March 5, 2012 by Thor.

SuperAxilla
Meh, For what it's worth, I just got my build in with the 7970. I'm not real tech savvy but I will say that it runs at a very low temp, and the graphics exceeded my expectations. I've seen your post where you OC'd your 7950, so maybe if you OC the 7970 (let me know if you do) you may notice a big difference. I got mine the day the new GTX came out but I don't think I would really notice that much difference between the two cards.
Thor.
I Oc'ed it to the 7970 specs and it didn't get much warming from the default temps. Although with this beast of a card you really don't need it, especially for Skyrim, which I'm getting Super stable fps, no lag or nothing, probably do the awesome 3gb of ddr5  Edited April 3, 2012 by Thor.
