New to Nexus Mods, Mods Aren't Installing Correctly... HELP!

Hi all!

This is my first attempt at modding a game and using the nexus mod manager. I can't seem to get the mods installed and activated in game.

My process so far:

First I downloaded all the mods I wanted into NMM, then, because I didn't understand how the program worked, i ended up manual installing them by unzipping them and placing them into the mod folder. I started up the game and entered a new campaign to find no mods displayed. Some of the obvious ones I didn't see are colored actions buttons, enemy health numbers, free rotating camera, etc. So, I took to youtube to learn how to install them through mod manager... wow, that was easy...

I then deleted all the files I had previously placed in the mods folder and installed them all through NMM. Still didn't work.

On further research, I was told you shouldn't change the mod directory, so I uninstalled the mods and NMM and started fresh without adjusting anything.... still didn't work. So, now I'm at a lost and hope y'all can help.

Some things to note:

-I had previously played the game prior to trying to mod, but it was a reloaded version. I uninstalled the game, bought a CD and activated it through steam. Although it did leave my save files.

-I am attempting to use many mods, and I'm not sure if the comparability is playing a role.

-I get the Red screen errors when I load up game and skip the beginning cut scene, although this happen prior as well.

Please let me know if I can provide anymore details.

Thanks!

Update: Everything reinstalled. The only thing I kept was zipped mod files, and somehow the previous play saved files stuck around.

Result? Still a no go. I am at a complete lose. The only thing I didn't leave default was changing the directory of Nexus Mod Manager to my secondary drive.

There's a lot more XCOM 2 mods on Steam Workshop

That said, for manual installation of mods create this folder:

Steam\SteamApps\common\XCOM 2\XComGame\Mods

And install mods in there. Each mod should be in a uniquely named subfolder (most are packed that way) with the same name as the mod's .XComMod file.

That .XComMod file should be in the root of the mod's subfolder

So

Steam\SteamApps\common\XCOM 2\XComGame\Mods\NewMod\NewMod.XComMod

Are you saying all the Nexus mods and more are on Steam?

I had already tried manual installing in that fashion...

There's... two or three which aren't on Steam.

Thought you were using NMM? No idea how that works for this game, probably badly.

If that method's not working for you manually installing then I've no idea what's going on. Works fine for me and others.
