Sancre Tor cell crashes v2

Although I have installed some quest mods last 2 days and the newer version of Streamline, I can't associate why they could affect this cell in particular (since I don't know at the moment id it is unique, anyway)

 

More probably this issue is an old one that just now popped as only now I approached such cell.

 

In another thread I saw a post from Vagrant0, where he pointed undeads as a possible cause and ever saw one post at another forum the issue being marked solved with wraiths as culprits. But for sure is not the case here. I have confronted all sort of undeads and even have 'hunting' then since this is the better way to test my own mod. Yet Vagrant's advice of verifying with a fresh character with the same mod setup is the way to go if workaround the problem is enough.

 

But I take it as an issue finding why the crash occurs at entering the cell. if I COC sancretorhud I can proceed as normal, fight all undeads there and such. I'll test today moving to some place inside the exterior cell. Ah, and yes, I verified no creature is at direct sight when I enter the cell, and even tried entering it by a bunch of different cardinal points with no avail.

 

My interest here at not just workaround the problem, more because it is not the first time entering a cell crashed my game, at least two times this occurred before. One was clearly a mod issue, and corrupted my saves beyond recovering being advantageous. The other solved itself such a way I never knew how or why. So this time is this I want to know: How and Why this is occurring.

 

All suggestions and approach hints are welcome

 

Edit: New characters Doesn't crashes, even with the same mods.

and there is something different too at the crash... the image disappears and returns and plays a second more or less before the CTD. sometimes the return is with tiled artifacts and at others a clean image.

 

I have a modified adjacent cell (Spire 5 from "lost spires" mod, but this is so too with the tested new char with no crashes. The crashing char didn't started this quest mod, but have 'found' that spire. worth a test.

 

The crashing char is relatively 'fresh' too, and have few no vanilla items, being the Elderiath robe and hood, things she have directly related to OOO. And with a few others I can't connect whit the issue, my own mod.

 

Edit: confirmed Lost Spires NOT being guilt the crash

The topic mentioned, where I suggested undead to be the cause was related to the changes OOO makes to undead and various leveled lists. In particular, the use of shaders. The issue you are may not be in any way related since it is only that cell, or rather going from one cell to another that seems to be causing the problem.

 

Since this seems related to a specific transition, my first thought is that it is something related to how data is being unloaded and loaded. Or it is something present within that game which is causing the crash (not waiting till after the blade's ghost finishes moving). If it's not too late, you might want to go back to an older version of streamline (since the newer version might be buggy or attempting something new). You might also want to try going from the hub (coc) to the first section, then back again to see if you crash at either point.

 

You might also want to check out some other places where undead hang out to see if you crash there too.

Yes, and your suggestion of testing with new character showed that indeed was not by the mods I have the issue. Since I can get her there without crash. Is some interaction among then. I'm trying recall if I made some alteration beyond the install of the mentioned two quest mods and streamline, even load order change. As even the char that is crashing is somewhat newbie, at the sense she haven't start many quests yet, will help to understand how this happened, or what reference is lost.

 

coc to the fort interior don't trigger the issue. I was testing the new char and now will return to the problematic one and try centering direct in the wordspace of the cell. I'll not modify anything for now and keep the savegame. And will try entering other heavily undead sites too, as you suggested.

 

PS: I cared to make a fresh char from the same template. Unless the level and items, and of course the places they have been, both chars are identical.

 

I returned the previous version of streamline, but isn't it, tested the new char with the former and newer version without problem. Even the other 2 mods recently installed differ at one char to the other by the first existed already when the quests were installed, but I'm almost sure they aren't the problem too. Adding as can make difference: None of the two chars have been where the new quests starts.

 

Edit 2: The relevant things this troubled char did is easy to trace.. She got to Skingrad as to find the scroll starter if the afinity quest. Got the sword, wet to Weinon to start the main quest, and did the mage guild quest at Chorrol and returned to get the finger of mountain. in her wanderings she got at some necromancers and a Boss named Elderiath (OOO) and since has been using the gown and hood of same name.... from there she found the spire 5 that id adjacent Sancre Tor (the new char got here too without problem) and from here all the troubles started, and for now I can say it's related to the fort cell only.

 

What give me the idea of selectively repeat these steps, trying to enter the cell at each one.

Now I have something strange and concrete. Elderiath hood doesn't returns a instance reference, only the formID, strange indeed.

And I can "removeitem" the gown but not that hood, console can't find it in my inventory, yet it is there.

 

 

PS: I'm pretty sure now, this shifting visage Elderiath hood thing is the culprit. And the irony is I don't know how to resolve this.

 

It came from the OOO esm. And I don't want to uninstall OOO, of course... but will gladly give that hood up.

Hmm, try making a new character which is the same level as the problem character. Spawns are controlled by a leveled list. So a high level character and a low level character won't see the same spawns. Unless that hood has some special scripting, it shouldn't be the cause of the problem.

This is the problem, it don't have object script.. hmm, I think not even magic, Not sure as I gave just a quick view at it at tes4view, exactly to see if it don't had some 'collateral effect' for coming from a necromancer boss.

But it don't have an instance identifier, and is returning a wrong formid when verified with pluggy instructions (all other items behave as expected, vanilla or modded ones, including the gown from the same boss).

 

Not confirmed, but for its characteristics it seems to be unique.

Anyway its possible scripts will be, indeed, the things I will verify with care at CS the first opportunity.

I am too lazy to read the whole thing, sorry, but I remember I having a crash in a certain cell in sancre tor. When it crashed I got an error and after a lot of research (google lol) I found that it was due to having either AA on or it was the HDR, I believe it was HDR that caused it, if you never set it, it may be that streamline is editing your settings in game (thats sorta what it does) and so bam.

I'll give it a try. Although I feel this is not the problem in this particular case, as the CTD occurs when I step into the cell, yet in the worldspace, so not even this 'barrier' is seen. Was to me doing some tests today but don't could.
