iceburner
I've tried everything I can think of short of installing Linux and issuing http commands manually. I can't resume any downloads from TESNexus. Are the servers running HTTP1.0 only and not HTTP1.1? Does it have something to do with the download referrer process? HTTP isn't really a protocol meant for large data transfers. Anyone running something too old to handle an alternative is either just fooling around, or on hardware that isn't going to be running Morrowind or Oblivion. Is there a reason it's being used over its better-suited alternatives?
Dark0ne
Resumeable downloads are not supported at the moment for well documented reasons. There are too many people out there that are niave or simply don't care about the effects on the server of opening multiple download threads for a single file. It may well become a premium member feature over the summer.
iceburner
I definitely wasn't meaning to suggest being able to pause download sessions and have multiple sessions open for the same file. Well aware of how most download managers/ "accelerators" are assininely and disrespectfully aggressive, to great detriment. What I was suggesting was more along the lines of: Let's say a user had 230/235MB downloaded, and unintentionally disconnected from their router/modem - that download session ends immediately, or times out after X seconds. Currently when attempting to download again, they cannot specify the byte to start from and must start the entire file over despite having that 230MB written to HDD as an incomplete file. HTTP resume for a single-session-only would allow them to complete the file and eliminate the need to send all 235MB again, reducing total traffic. If they attempted to resume while they still had a session open, it would be refused (with an error page informing them as to why, if possible). Now the point where I may not understand is thus: Are HTTP resume and multi-session downloads not mutually excludable? Would it require too much engineering on the back end to prevent multiple sessions for the same file from the same user/IP? I'm aware this is all your personal effort, and I do not want to ask anything unreasonable. I simply believe an implementation with intelligently designed limits is possible, and would be beneficial for both users and servers. If I am wrong, then I am wrong; my apologies.
