Thandal
As a non-author, I don't usually comment in this Forum. But since several are looking for Staff input I'll provide some. Use the "Report" button. That's all you need to do. The ratio of Staff to mods is approximately 1:5500. We don't even try to look at all the new ones coming in every day, much less the ones that have been here for years. We rely on the Membership to identify problems. And we're really lucky to have such positive and dedicated Membership to do that. The overwhelming majority are well-behaved, supportive players who just want to have more fun. The few who don't (or who don't understand our rules) can be dealt with... once we know about them. Since folk are quoting the ToS, I'll end with another snip:If you see a file that breaches these rules it does not mean that file has been allowed to remain by the Nexus staff and that all files of similar content are OK. Nexus staff might not have seen the file so report the file if you are unsure.
RitualBlack
On one of my Skyrim mods I included a little 'Enjoy! Come back and endorse it if you like it ; )' description underneath the actual file (not in the main page description and not done in funny text). It was uploaded long before the modding contest and I released it as a final version with no mention of 'amazing future updates at x endorsements'. I just like the endorsements as a way of knowing that the change I made for myself is being enjoyed by others. A small reminder should neither be a problem or an inconvenience and in all honesty the ratio of downloads to endorsements is rarely ever good. People tend to take mod authors for granted. If it is a problem that I do have it (may result in a strike/ban) than I could remove it  .
Thandal
As a general practice, might be better to phrase it more like: Thanks to everybody who Endorses this, I really appreciate it!That way, it's the author (you) doing the thanking, not asking/telling the players to do it.
Korodic
I think we might also get more endorsements if NMM gives a button with an "are you sure" confirmation to endorse a file from your own mod manager. Convenience goes a long way ;)
McclaudEagle
I've only asked people to endorse my mod if they like it. There are no strings attached to it, I will or won't update them regardless of whether they have endorsements or not. I only ask for endorsements for one reason, so I can see if people like it or not. Some of my mods are more or less developed for the community here at the Nexus, so having the endorsements allows me to see whether people are interested in the mod or not. Besides, is it really too much to ask for the user to show a little appreciation for the work the modder has done and allowed to be used by others? Muhahaha! . Nah, I will probably change it to a 'thanks to all who endorse my mods' sort of thing. A very good suggestion .
gsmanners
I know this has been answered, but I would like to state for the record that the rule against asking for endorsements is a bad one. Why anyone would feel offended by that activity is a mystery to me (bloated ego perhaps?) and I don't get how people are so thin-skinned that they feel the need to complain about it. Why are people offended by people who ask for money, for that matter? It's their work. Let them ask for whatever they want.
Sunnie
It's called "the snowball effect". When one modder begs and pleads for endorsements, soon, everyone does because they feel thats the only way they will get them. And, when one modder asks for donations, soon all will and you no longer really have a free modding community. ub3rman123
Not too sure about the thing of donations. They're called donations for just that, and anyone who packs up their marbles and leaves because they aren't getting any donations doesn't belong in this community anyways. This is what people argue when they don't really know what they're talking about.
