modder3434
the emperor didn't seem to be such a bad person as the stormcloacks made him out to be. " he sold out skyrim" " he let the thalmor take away talos", " death to the emperor alllah...." type of thing. in person i could see the strain of him trying to deal with the burden of leading a weakened empire, attempting to strengthen it, put sown the storm cloak rebellion, and deal with the damned thalmor. i actually felt like killing him would be a mercy considering all the things he had to go thru ad was still going thru. He's the Emperor, it's his job. He shouldn't have been Emperor if he couldn't handle it. The core of the Empire is weak, and they're allowing the Thalmor to rot the Empire inside out. Also, this belongs in the spoiler section. just becasue he is stressed doesn't mean he can't handle it. when i was growing up my dad got calls every night at the super-table about something that went wrong or something that happened. He got stressed, but he did his damn job. point is being stressed doesn't mean you can't handle something.
Rennn
I know, right? ^ I felt really bad killing that guy. I was about four seconds away from jumping off the ship and letting him live, then going to kill the guy who hired me. Titus Mede II had more inner strength than any other character in the game, and from that conversation I would even argue that he has a right to rule the Empire, even despite that Thalmor mess. magiii
he isnt just stressed. he is too weak and old to be emperor. its time for him to be replaced by a dragonborn like ancient times.
ContagiousCure
The Tidus Mede line descended from a Colovian warlord who invaded the Imperial City and crowned himself emperor while the Empire was weak. Arguably, the line also ran the empire poorly. As hinted in the game, his assassination may result in the crowning of a stronger Emperor for the Empire. And yes, this belongs in the spoiler section. sukeban
I've still never actually killed him (hate the DB), but from what I can deduce he's a pretty stand-up guy. I don't even think he was a bad emperor. He may have been tricked by the Dominion into signing the condordat, but he pulled off some epic this is sparta reconquest immediately before that. I am glad that he dies in canon, as, justly or not, he is a disgraced public figure. Nobody wants to follow him back into battle again, least of all the nords... or the redguards. No, I echo what magii says about getting our dragonborn on the throne where he/she belongs. Mede II might have been an able emperor, but he was also illegitimate. The legion will fight 200% harder with a real deal dragonborn commanding them. Just give her Wuuthrad and some rowdy nordic legions... she'll send those thalmor scurrying for the nearest caves just as her ancestors did with the falmer :nuke: :nuke: :nuke:
Roentgens
Titus Mede II had inherited a weakened empire in an era of Thalmor ascendancy. If he had made any mistake it would have been at the negotiating table where he had ceded too much to the Thalmor. He chose to make great sacrifices to preserve the Empire at any cost. And the cost was high because the Thalmor were masters of diplomacy and managed to bluff the empire into accepting overbearing terms in return for a temporary truce. Titus Mede is more at home on the field as a general than as a diplomat as he had shown in the Battle of Red Ring. It was on the negotiating table that he was outmaneuvered. I believe that ultimately Titus Mede II had pragmatic intentions at heart when he requested that the dragonborn kill Motierre. He realized that the dragonborn has the power to be a kingmaker, and that Motierre is too weak to save a dying empire. The dragonborn is killing two birds with one stone; he ends the reign of a capable yet disgraced emperor, and denies the throne to a conniving tyrant like Motierre. Killing the man who negotiated the White-Gold Concordat is symbolically equivalent to tearing the treaty apart. The dark brotherhood is just there to provide the means for the dragonborn to fulfill his destiny as a kingmaker.
Elsarian
Did anyone else here fell pity when you had to kill him? I for one had a very hard time killing him, for he only wanted what was best. I believe that it has been clearly stated in the thread above yours to not post spoilers in this section. I am sorry if that bothers you, but it is the rules and I am glad that I played through the Dark Brotherhood way before I saw this thread. Good day. Here is a link right to the exact thread: forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/453557-do-not-post-spoilers-in-this-section/ -Elsarian Edited March 6, 2012 by Elsarian
