ContraChaos
I have used 2 different NMM (s),with Wrye Bash, independently and together. I have dragged and dropped OBSE into my Oblivion folder located in my Steam Games folder (I have looked, had a friend look and still cant find the Oblivion.exe File in the Oblivion folder), some mods worked like arrive by ship mod, some worked partly like Oblivion Character Overhaul 2 mod, yes I am also experiencing trouble with blockhead...It keeps showing as mod not a plugin and not working like OBSE. Some would break my game, black screen before crashing. I have followed youtube videos down to the last detail (Zuul I think/among others), followed lists like Bevilex modlist for oblivion and they all showed me different ways of getting these mods to work and none of them are working like shown, something always goes wrong. I am at my wits end, I am currently willing to sell my soul for someone to help me as I am so frustrated. I have uninstalled everything and reinstalled Oblivion. ,I'm just college student wanting to play modded oblivion, cant a woman catch a brake here? Anyone willing to help please do. My next step is to annoy people on facebook and pay someone in my area to help, which I dont want to do.
Faelrin
I have the Steam GoTY Oblivion (in fact I'm currently playing alongside this). After I install it, I add OBSE to the Oblivion directory in Steam\steamapps\common\Oblivion. In order to launch OBSE you need to just click play on the shortcut launcher for Oblivion (instead of the OBSE one), and the "Enable the Steam Overlay while-in game" option (right click on Oblivion in Steam, and select properties), must be checked for it to work if I'm recalling correctly. From there I use LOOT to sort my load order, and TES4Edit to clean all my DLC files before I install any of my other mods of choice. I install everything manually, but Wrye Bash is an option, but I'd also recommend using the TesModManager (which replaced OBMM). I would not recommend NMM since most mods will not install correctly with it. After I get all my mods installed, I do another sort with LOOT, do any more cleaning as necessary with TES4Edit, and then I make a bashed patch in Wrye Bash. I then run TES4LODGen before playing the game. I also make sure I do the update BSA redirection with TesModManager (under utilites/archive invalidation) before playing to get any texture replacers in game working right (though making sure the bsa files are re-dated is a must too I think). A few other things. If you cannot locate the Oblivion.exe file then try to have Steam verify the cache (right click Oblivion in Steam, then properties, then the Local Files tab). You might also have an option set on your OS that hides file extensions. Let me know if you need any more help. Here's a link to the TesModManager: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/5010/? vixsyn
As Faelrin said, you'd be better off using a different mod manager. It's a little alien feeling if you've played the newer games like Skyrim/FO4 and used NMM or MO, but also rather necessary to get everything working well. I seem to be having a problem getting the STEP site to load right now but there are some very good, indepth guides/walkthroughs for modding Oblivion there as well. Are you making sure you've locked your FPS to 60 or below? TES games (and FO games) get hinky if they're running too fast.
