padamphet
Hello,First of all, I am not native english, so sorry for my approximate english. After playing skyrim (+150 mods) for years, I would like to try to change it to SSE, and with a 2k 27'' monitor (forget 4k, to heavy I think). Considering I will try to super-mod it (with guides and my own touch), and that it is time for me to change my computer (5 years already), I need some help about the new configuration. Basically, I have 2 plan, I just want to know is the cheapest configuration will be able to run SSE full modded on a 2k screen(2k for all main and big texture, and 1k/2k for small object)1st config = i5 6600k16gb ddr4 3200mhzgtx 1070 (gygabite) here (http://www.invadeit.co.th/product/video-cards/gigabyte/geforce-gtx1070-8gb-gddr5-windforce-oc-gv-n1070wf2oc-8gd-p029332/)msi z270 G5kingston SSD 240 GBdell 27'' 2k (here http://www.invadeit.co.th/product/monitors/dell/u2715h-27inch-led-monitor-2560x1440-2xhdmi-dp-mini-dp-p021866/)price total = 1760 euro (with power supply, and case)2nd config=exactly same but just changecpu by i7 7700kand GPU by GTX 1080 MSItotal price 2040 eurosI really want to go for the 1st one, but I am afraid about what I have read about SSE and also about the 2k monitor Any advices ? jones177
Hi I play Skyrim SE at 2k WS & 4k. Go For an i7. New games are using more cores/threads even though this one doesn't. This games CPU usage is about the same as the old one. Only GPU & vram usage has gone up. With my i7 2600k & i7 6700k I can play the game at 2560 X 1440 with a GTX 980 ti/1070 at 60fps with medium Reshade settings. The same computers can play at 4k with light Reshade settings in the high 40s, low 50s. The experience is totally smooth at both resolutions. The game looks better at 1440 with medium Reshade than it does at 4k with light Reshade. It takes a GTX 1080 ti to get a better looking playable game at 4k. I use 60hz monitors. A Samsung 28" 4k(TN) & a Samsung 34" Wide Screen 1440(VA). The only other monitors that I have purchased have been ASUS 27" 1440(TN.70hz) & ASUS 28" 4k(TN,60hz) for my Son. They all do a very good job.Booth 4k monitors mentioned run a perfect 1440 screen. My desktop is set at 1440 & I play most games at 4k.If I had to pick one it would be the ASUS 28" 4k monitor. It dos's a much better 1080 resolution than the Samsung. Small SSDs are not good for moded games. My Skyrim usas 65gbs, Skyrim SE uses 38gbs & Fallout 4 uses 169gbs. I waited until I could afford a 1tb Sata SSD before I started using them. None of these games are "stored" & HDs that are fast enough(for me) cost about the same as a 1tb SSD. If I had to buy another HD it would be a WD 4tb Black or better. Later

LaterThanks a lot for your kind reply. After some research, I am now at the point were I know that the i7 (280 euro here) is too expensive for me right now. Have 2 possibilities : i5 7600k for 220 euros or ryzen 5 1600X for 240 euros. But now I am thniking about staying on a 1080p monitor, but a good one, and forget the 1440p for the time and just buy a 1070 GTX and get a ''cheaper'' computer . I don't know how many mods you run on your Skyrim SE, but I think I will have a lot (on oldrim I have full STEP mods + 30 mods of my pleasure.... ) and I am afraid about 1440p but after reading your post I am not sure anymore. There is a BenQ ZOWIE XL2730 27" LED Monitor 2560x1440 for 530 euros here http://www.invadeit.co.th/product/monitors/benq/zowie-xl2730-27inch-led-monitor-2560x1440-vga-dvi-2xhdmi-dp-144hz-1ms-p031603/ but it will be a sacrifice for me and I want to be sure of the results and no regrets !!! Still too many questions in my mind....

Thank you I do have : Nvidia 1070, 16gb RAM, i7-7700, SSD and Z170 MOBO .... my monitor is 25" 2560x1440 max resolution .... more than enough to run any game and more than enough for Skyrim SE .... I cannot deny that the 1080 is much better card and if you can afford it, go for ( thinking about future games that will require a better video card ) .... My game video setup is 2560 x 1440 ( because I need to match my monitor max resolution ) and I recommend that you match yours as well .. you can go under but not higher, for example, if your monitor is less than 2560 x 1440, you should not have your video settings ( in game menu ) at 2560 x 1440 but to matching your monitor max resolution. If I was you, I would go with the 1070 and get a higher storage SSD. 240 for your SSD is not just enough. Go to Amazon and look for a SSD 1tb and I think the price should not be higher than $300 .... Happy gaming.
WFRJ
You need the i7 core before the vid card. The card can easily be upgraded later but a cpu is not as easy. Also, I have an 17-3820 (basic i7), but it plays so much better that my friend's i5. (I get 60 fsp on 175 mods, he gets35 to 50 on 44 mods) We have matching 980ti cards, but I do run 32 ram. Don't know what he has. My monitor isan Asus 27" running 2560x1440.
padamphet
Thank you for your reply. After some reasearch on the internet , I am not really sure about the ryzen 5 1600 x vs an i7, because the ryzen is cheaper here, and has 6 cores 12 threads. Any of you know about it ?
