bajs11
I've kinda been wondering. There are probably hundreds of vanilla npc and companion overhaul mods out there that change their faces with an ESP filebut there are also mods and console commands that enable the in-game facial reconstruction feature for NPCs.So is it better/safer to use an ESP file than simply download a preset and/or change the appearances of the NPCs in game? The reason im asking is because these esp files that only change the appearances of the npcs may conflict with some of the mods that also change other things like scripts or whatever for the same npcs which should make using Looksmenu presets a much better option Edited September 13, 2017 by bajs11
Bernt
I've used both the .esp versions and the LooksMenu ones. The latter provide you with a better scope of fine tuning the character/NPC to your own liking. Even if you do not have all of the required files. While the .esp is more of a "What you see is what you get".But I haven't experienced problems using either :)
bajs11
That's great. Is there a tool for creating json-files from mods that change npc faces? Many of the companion and npc overhaul mods don't come with looksmenu json files.

Illtempered
I used the showlooksmenu command on my companion Cait early on to change her hair and everything has been fine. However I used the same command to try and clean up the face of one of my settlers, you know just to get some of the dirt off. When I came back later she had become a ghoul. Bernt
One thing though. It seems as if Curie is incurable........ (OK _ Bad one I know...... ) I tried to change her into one of my own presets. But no luck. In the end I downloaded an .esp changing her to something not far from what I'd like her to be. I then tried to change her appearance using SLM. But no luck
