3ds max armor modding - please help, stuck for three weeks now

Hello everyone,

I need some help. I can't export Dragon Age Inquisition armor from 3ds Max 2018 using Eshme's script. Here are the steps I followed.

1. Imported em_arm_nuda_0.mmh to get the GOD with the bones & applied the texture, merged with em_glv_nuda_0.mmh and em_boo_nuda_0.mmh.

2. Exported Solas' armor from Dragon Age Inquisition as a .obj from XNALara XPS 11.8

3. Imported the .obj armor as an editable poly and adjusted it to fit the model

4. Applied the textures to Solas' armor.

5. Added the following modifiers

- skin: assigned bones to it
- edit normals (all look green so did nothing with this)

-unwrap UVW: edited the UV with the editor to make sure the model fits the textures

The armor has six separate pieces, all part of the GOB. Yet when I try to export I get a warning there are undefined objects in the hierarchy, no Dragon Age Parameters, invalid or unknown.

Also for some reason when I cut polygons from EM_GLV_SOL_GlovesM1 because I only needed the hands, they got these black spots, which disappear once you click on the Editable Poly.

I've gone over Amycus' tutorial, but due to the images missing I only got partway through the tutorial.

If there is a kind soul willing to spare the time please help because I'm stuck. I've tried for three weeks now to get it to work, but I can't. I need help.

regards

Hm, I'm not sure but could it be possible that Eshmes script doesn't work for Max 2018? I always thought you need older versions ( 3ds max 2012/ 2013) and I have read somewhere that there might export problems when you have made major edits and when you work with the free student software.

Because those meshes aren't assigned as mesh.

If you have more than 1 piece of meshes, you'll need to manually assign all of them as mesh. Like this:

1 - select all your meshes and attach it to GOB

2 - select all your meshes --> go to eshme menu --> ModelManager --> a small window will appear.

3 - then manually assign those meshes as mesh like this:

Also if your mesh have skin texture, like the hands, attach it to the GOB before other meshes so it will appear on the top. That way, the skin texture will match to whatever skin color the character wearing it.

Thank you, but it's worked on other stuff, I'm pretty sure it's something I'm doing wrong

Thank you for that information, that got rid of that error! I managed to export the armor, sadly it does not show up in the toolset. I correctly edited the clothing variation gda, the name shows up but not the model.

I re-imported it in 3ds max to see what's wrong and I saw the pants were black when I click on the Skin modifier, but not when I click on the mesh. When I edited the envelope I saw one of the hip things (sorry not a bone and I can't think of the name rn) was way off so I adjusted it but the pants are still black, very odd. The rest of the armor looks fine.

When you say attach it to the GOB, you mean make sure the mesh is listed under "GOB" in the hierarchy to the left, right?

Well, I managed to export the model, the gda is edited correctly but no matter what I do, the armor won't show up in the toolset. Is there anyone willing to look at the model files? I could upload them to mediafire.

Thanks.
