TaradelSol
The game changed to extremely dark at night, after it was played for hours. It is now so dark at night nothing can be seen. I don't have any mods, just the DLC. There was one update that I remember that was for creation club. I don't have any mods from there either. It is too dark at night to play the game. My character uses stealth to get around and has never had this problem before. There seems to be a strong desire on the part of some people as evidenced by mods and the forum conversations about 'realism' in the form of ink black nights. I would like to suggest to people that what they are desiring is colloquially described as 'Night Blindness'. It means you either have a vitamin A deficiency brought about by mild malnutrition (not eating your carrots?) or were born with poor vision. Not everyone has this. Just eat your carrots. The greatest visual alteration you should have at night with low light is a reduction of visual color besides the level of moonlight. I bring this up because I can't find any threads about this problem of too dark to play. Is it just my game? Also, I have noticed that the environment does not seem to be that dark for the NPC's. I don't remember how I noticed this, but it may have been a screen shot I was looking at. What can I do, is there an ini setting that can cure the black paint effect? Has Fallout 4 become the game for the visually impaired? Also, I would like to be able to check the settings for the in game day and night cycle, if that is possible. Thank you, someone. MarkusTay
I use an ENB, so I've never had that problem. However, I do agree with your assessment of 'night blindness'. I see nearly as well at night as during the day, so the game world looks like the RW to me, at any rate.
TaradelSol
A certain level of realism in a game is certainly gratifying, but some people don't have a well developed sense of reality. For instance, if I go outside at night, right now in December, it's nearly as bright as morning daylight. Low cloud cover combined with a full moon reflecting off of snow through the clouds makes a wonderful ambiance. It's fully diffused and illuminated. Without the cloud cover, this wouldn't have happened. The effect actually is past, but if you consider that the sky is lit with at least a portion of the moon over half of the nights, total darkness is seldom the case. So, the totally dark screen is actually harassment. Thank you for your time and opinion.
BooneoftheWasteland
This was my modded New Vegas, pitch black at night and completely unplayable even with a pipboy light on with a 10x illumination mod. Yeah that's not realism. Fortunately the mod came with a 'brighter" nights that was actually more fitting to real life. I did a quick search and didn't find others with the same issue from an unmodded game. For me objects go black after an hour or more of gaming and it will ctd after a save when it gets to that point. I expect it now. Upon relaunch the game is fine and nothing is black anymore.
