Salvinha
Hey guys. After some months, I just solved to be back to Skyrim Special Edition, since my last save kinda broke (because I messed up). So after downloading everything I could, installing it, cleaning esps and esms, and making patches (took me one good day), I saw SKSE is out. Since it is an Alpha version, I know it is not for use yet, but here is my doubt... Since most mods who used MCM in Oldrim when converted to SE had to change the way its settings are controlled (such as adding spells and books), when SKSE beta is finally out, probably all of them will be will be migrated to MCM again. Do you think I will be able to change the mod version from normal to MCM version without losing my save? I know that I should not do that to overhauls, but what about other mods categories? Is it safe?If you do not advise that, how long you think I should wait for a Beta version? Two months? I think two months it is a reasonable window of time.I already lost one day (setting up the game) but I would not like to lose more days of gaming just to know later I cannot update to the MCM version of the mods when my save will have 100+ hours of gaming in it. wfandrews
I would not advise replacing a ported mod with the same mod that has been converted into an ongoing save. I believe this would be the same as adding a new mod mid-game, never a good idea and more often than not can lead to a broken game. As for me I am just continuing to play SSE with the mods that are available and not really worrying about the timeline of the release of SKSE64 as I believe, like you, that it will be a few months or more before a reliable version of SKSE64 will be out. Also some mods which rely on SKSE may never be converted, although I am sure the most popular ones will be. However you must take my opinion with the caveat that I am one of those people that is constantly starting a new game anyway and so will have no problem abandoning a current save, even with a hundred or more hours in, and starting a completely new game. Tooneyman
Unless you want to test mods and report them to the authors to give them ideas on what to do. I recommend just waiting. I've been testing SKSE64 for a couple of mod authors along with myself to see what certain mods I like can do and to tell the mod authors what they can expect, but if you don't have the knowledge of what your doing I would highly recommend. Just waiting for the beta and mod authors to port there mods.
LeddBate
I think wfandrews has the right idea. Just go ahead and play without SKSE until a reliable beta comes out AND most of your favorite mods have been (re)ported, then start a new game. It's still gonna be awhile, so why not enjoy the game for now? Quick tip: SkyUI version 2.2 DOES work in SE without SKSE. There's an annoying error message, but some kind souls have pointed out in the comments how you can get rid of that. The only things lacking are the bells and whistles like auto-sort. Still beats the living crap out that horrible vanilla UI.
Salvinha
Thank you for the answer guys. As said above, I will not wait until SKSE and I will play SSE without it for now. I do not have any problems beginning a new game later (I'm used to do that). As for Sky UI, I'm already using it and I got rid of the annoying message. :)
