"Out of Memory" Randomly

I can go for an hour with no problems, exit and enter all sorts of buildings, equip and unequip weapons and armor, kill a bunch of enemies, then it says "Out of Memory". LOOT says my load order is fine, I'm using Mod Manager to invalidate my stuff, what am i doing wrong? Here's my load order. One thing that confuses me is that some of my mods like the NMC texture pack doesn't pop up in LOOT.

first of all , the only things you'll see in LOOT are plugins

texture packs don't usually include plugins , so they won't show up on LOOT

as for your problem , the "out of memory" refers to you reaching the memory limit of the game

not sure if you have a 4GB patch , but if not , you are limited to 2GB of RAM

maybe you are trying to use texture packs that your game just can't handle , so you can switch to lower resolution versions (2k -> 1k or such)

see if this prevents it from happening . usually the texture differences shouldn't be so apparent , so it shouldn't affect your experience

but yeah , it's a limitation with the engine of the game . do make sure to follow some basic tutorials on modding FNV , they should cover the basics , which include a 4GB patch and tools to manage memory usage and prevent bugs\crashes

Yeah, the game just leaks memory.

One thing that can help is to set your textures to a lower quality in the video settings once the game is running. No matter what you do you're probably not going to get rid of the problem completely. But, if you lower the texture size, your game won't look as pretty, but it won't crash quite as often either.

Using higher resolution texture packs will make the problem worse, so again you're faced with the choice of a prettier game or less frequent crashing.

Texture packs don't have an esp or an esm, so they don't show up in the load order. Mods that replace any existing resources (meshes, textures, sounds, etc) that don't have an esp or an esm also won't show up in the load order.

My computer should be able to run modded NV no problem. I even tried playing almost 100% vanilla except I was using One Tweak, NVAC, Stutter Remover, and YUP, still crashed although it crashed my entire computer and left it f*#@ed up for awhile. Now it's working fine again but I'm becoming very frustrated. I can't pinpoint the problem other than shitty luck.

I don't think you understood what WastelandAssassian has posted.

Your equipment RAM is irrelevant since the game engine will only use 2GB of RAM unless you have the 4GB patch installed. Of course the patch will only work if you have 4 or more GB installed.

There are a few available here, just search for 4GB in the mods pages.

Please see the 'Solutions to "Crash To Desktop" (CTD) problems' section in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide. Also, see "Checklist Items 06-07" in the same article regarding getting the game to use more than 2GB of memory (which the default limit assigned by the OS for 32-bit games such as FNV).

And if that doesn't help, please provide the hardware information requested in the wiki "How to ask for help" article. You should definitely be able to run more than those few mods unless you are restricted to 2GB.
