gascat100
So randomly (after the creating club update I am pretty sure) my fallout 4 stopped working. When I would click play on the launcher, I would get sent to a black screen for a few seconds until the game crashed. Before I go further, I did not download any new mods. All the mods I have currently installed worked just a few weeks ago.I usually launch fallout 4 from the NMM, but even launching from steam would result in the same crash. I eventually followed the bethesda support instructions and deleted the INI files, then verified the files. This KINDA worked. After deleting the INI files the game would launch and allow me to load saves, the only problem was that some of my mods no longer work.... not all, but some (weird right??). Mods such as the RU556 rife, postman mail bags, and shadow dogmeat were broken. However, mods like desert combat armour and nora as a follower still worked (does not make sense to me why some work and some do not).I decided to try disable, then re-enable my mods to try get them to work. As I was re-enabling my old mods a NMM popup notified me that I will need to modify the INI files for mods to work (something I had already done in the past, but after deleting the INI files needed to re-do).So I went and re-edited the INI files adding the script "[Archive] bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 sResourceDataDirsFinal=" to the custom INI and adding "[Launcher]: bEnableFileSelection=1" to the pref INI. But after editing the INI files the game no longer launched, giving me the same problem that I started with, the game crashing on launch.Does anybody have any idea how to fix this???????? I am dying for an answer.Just in case you skipped to the end and do not want to read all that, my problem is after the update whenever I edit the INI files to allow for mods my game fails to launch from the launch menu. gascat100
check you mods for updates. the CC update the other day broke several mods. Looks like that is actually the problem. A couple broken mods made it so that editing the INI files caused launch crashes. As dumb as it sounds, I never tried disabling all mods.
